  • Going to bang the xG drum so skip me if you don’t care for it.

Over the last two seasons he has massively outperformed his xG both times. This indicates towards a player who, when he gets into a scoring position, tends to find the back of the net more often than other players.

Finding a player like that is obviously good for any team but you’d think would be critical for a side expected to finish in the bottom half of the table and need to make the most out of limited attacking options against high quality opposition.

Wish I could bookmark my own posts but I would not be at all shocked to see a few 0-1 or 1-1 scores next season where R. Apter is our only goalscorer.

24/25: 8 goals from 4.83 xG in League One (69 shots total)
23/24: 12 goals from 6.57 xG in League Two (103 shots total)
Luke Berry... 7 goals from 8.28 xG.
  • Imray has signed for Blackpool, announcement for apter departure later today?
  • Estimates of Burke's price are crazy given he was a PL player 2 seasons ago!

35 minute podcast from May last year with Blackpool and Tranmere fans chatting about Apter.

Yeah no clue how much he has cost us was a complete guess.

Have to take into account his fitness record and Luton’s need to get him off the wage bill. Kaminski only went for £800k-£1m depending on what you believe, so I doubt Burke cost more than that.
  • Spending must have surpassed the 8m mark with agent and signing on fees.

Think those stats are less encouraging because you are inevitably going to get a reversion to the average unless he’s a world class finisher (unlikely)

Still not sure it really matters, he’s replacing Small who didn’t score or assist much. If he gets us up the pitch like Small did and takes players on (looks like he can) then he’s replaced that and the goals/assists are a bonus on top

Hopefully he is a replacement for Apter
  • Opps realise I was a bit late to that lol
  • If we sign Kellior-Dunn it would feel a bit of an unbelievable window on paper at least, wonder if we'd effectively be "done" in the Transfer Market this summer if he comes in, or if we move on a sign the next best target in that area - Interesting that apart from Small / Carey, there have been no incomings to "soften" the blow of a departure.

Although you could really argue that Campbell, Leaburn, Ramsay, Coventry... Maybe Mannion are the names they'd really need to employ that tactic
  • I remember us being linked with Imray some time ago. This feels like the right order of events!

Of course that’s possible. I think, given the position we’re in, we’ve calculated to jump on this early in case the reversion never comes and he’s worth double or more this time next year because of it.
  • Wait, is there any concrete stuff to the DKD link or is it entirely driven by wishful thinking

I'd be surprised if we've spent £6-8m straight up... a bit like with Ahadme I'd expect a lot of these fees to be based of appearances and various other Clauses, with the initial fees being a tad lower - Still not knocking the commitment from the owners though

At this stage the latter, I believe

I really think there’s something in the DKD link too. DKD behind Tanto, Godden or Leaburn with TC and Apter out wide is in my opinion about as good as we could hope for with our budget.

If we sign DKD (unlikely), the board have gone massively above and beyond expectations

If I had to take a wild guess I would say we haven’t hit the ceiling of what the owners are prepared to pay to back Nathan in this campaign  and it’s not so much a budget other than to buy all the right players he needs to go for a play off place but at the right price and don’t make it look like there’s more money on the pot. This is a team building exercise with an end goal.

Completely wishful as far as I know

Fair play to him, absolutely boiled my piss. Takes a dedicated nob to go to another forum to moan about another teams fans being nasty to you

He's got to be a Charlton fan? :D
It’s the same name as the guy on the LO forum who was sprouting shite about Galbraith not joining Huddersfield or us because we are smaller than Leyton Orient

Apter seems more of an out and out winger to me. I wonder if we'll shift to 343... TC on one side apter on the other?
So we would have to bench 2 out of Godden, Olaofe and Leaburn!!!!
I don’t think we have signed Olaofe to sit on the bench
Probably correct, but equally you could argue if we'd just signed Godden and Leaburn from league one teams that we wouldn't have signed them for the bench either.

It's a good problem for Jones to have.
