+++ Luke Chambers Signs On Loan From Liverpool+++
Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of Luke Chambers on loan from Premier League side Liverpool.
The 21-year-old, left-sided defender, who joins for the remainder of the 2025/26 campaign, becomes the Addicks’ third signing of the window following the arrivals of Harry Clarke and Lyndon Dykes.
Managing Director James Rodwell commented: "Strengthening our options on the left side of our defence and at wing-back has been a key priority during this transfer window, and we’re delighted to welcome Luke, a player we’ve been monitoring for some time.
"He is technically excellent, athletic and a progressive passer. In addition, we would like to thank Liverpool for their cooperation in allowing Luke to join us. We’re looking forward to seeing him in a Charlton shirt."
Manager Nathan Jones added: "It’s no secret that we’ve been working hard to bring in a player that can come in and contribute on our left side, including at left wing-back, so I’m delighted that Luke has joined us.
"He’s a talented, young, hungry player of real pedigree, having come through the Liverpool youth system and represented their first team, so I’m looking forward to working with him."
After putting pen to paper, Chambers said: "I'm over the moon. I know how passionate the fans are about the club and having played against Charlton last season, I know how good The Valley is so I can’t wait to get going.
"We’ve obviously got a big game on Saturday, so I’m looking forward to playing in front of the fans and showing them what I’ve got."
Born in Preston, Chambers joined Liverpool at the age of six and progressed through the Reds’ academy to sign his first professional contract in 2021, before winning the U19 European Championship with England the following summer.
After enjoying a successful loan spell with Scottish Premiership side Kilmarnock in the second part of the 2022/23 campaign, the defender was handed his Liverpool debut by Jürgen Klopp in the Reds’ 3-1 victory over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup in September 2023.
He then earned three Europa League appearances – including starts against Toulouse and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise – before spending the latter half of the 2023/24 season on loan at Wigan Athletic.
Having featured under Arne Slot during Liverpool’s pre-season tour in the summer of 2024, Chambers returned to Wigan on a season-long loan.

Ideally we need a second Left-Back in, just to be safe, but what did you seriously expect this month?WillmoreTheRed said:Played 12 games for Wigan last year. 21 year old. Feels like a huge gamble, hope he’s just the back up.16 -
Chambers underwent treatment at the AXA Training Centre and has now been deemed fit enough to spend the remainder of the campaign playing senior football.

Maybe someone who’s played some championship football even just a game or two would be nice.ForeverAddickted said:

A left wing back, finally.
Not played loads, but this is his 4th loan.
Looks pretty good on FM for our level.
Now who’s next?4 -
At last somebody. Maybe we or Liverpool were waiting on his fitness, as he's just recovered from a serious injury, but a shame this couldn't have happened earlier in the month.

Who then - Will his club let him join us, will they have cover themselves? - You make it sound so simpleWillmoreTheRed said:

Need another left back in still, I guess he's in because they pulled the plug on Scanlon?

Probably would have been the perfect addition were Edwards nearly back. With Edwards out I'd still like us to go hard for an experienced championship LB (ideally one who can also play LCB).11

There was a pen picture teasing the signingsam3110 said:Need another left back in still, I guess he's in because they pulled the plug on Scanlon?
Interesting that there was a lot less fanfare, no pen picture teasing a signing

I wonder what the delay was, as we heard he passed the medical a couple of weeks ago?
Most likely what we were willing to pay.3 -
