Best game you've seen at the Valley
Wasn't around for the 7-6. Would have to go with the 4-4 draw with West Ham (2001). Kitson hat-trick for them. JJ with great late equaliser.

Reebok it is then (new 3rd shirt p51)
Happy with that.

Another academy prospect poached
In 2/3 years he could of been playing men’s football, but instead he will be stuck in the reserve and sent out on loan until he’s 26 and probably wasted his best years. 🤷🏻♂️

Keeper Timeouts are no more
The Football Association, Premier League, English Football League, National League and Women's Super League have agreed on the measure, pending permission from the International Football Association Board (Ifab). Earlier this year, Ifab decided against changing the law and invited leagues to volunteer for trials. Pro Ref,…

Championship 26/27 Pre-Season
After yesterday according to some we're nailed on to finish rock bottom. For others the results irrelevant and people need to see the bigger picture. Most are somewhere in between, but how has everyone else been getting on I hear someone ask? Seriously, anyone? Okay well here's the answer even if you didn't ask.…

Home ends you have been in watching Charlton
Charlton away games only, i have done quite a few home ends for one reason or another. Mostly I think because in the 70s and 80s things were more relaxed in terms of crowd control and security and my Dad would turn up with us at local grounds and it was natural (and probably safer sometimes) to drop in the home end. Later…

Jayden Fevrier - July 2026 signed for Blackburn (p17)
Charlton Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of Jayden Fevrier on loan from Stockport County. Managerial sackings, comings and goings
The October international break is clearly a chance to wield the axe First Di Matteo gets the push from Villa, and now Guidolin has been replaced at Swansea by Bob Bradley To me it all seems terribly early in the season to make changes...For reference, we sacked Dowie on the 13th November…

Summer 2026 (Non- Charlton) Championship Transfers
As with the past 2 summers, I will update this thread with a list of all incomings for teams in our division. First though we will likely see outgoings with the retained lists that will be announced by most non-playoff sides this week. However Norwich jumped the gun and actually announced theirs last week, so will start…

Olympic Stadium; our day in court
It might seem to have gone quiet but that is because we have been preparing for the Information Tribunal hearing, next Monday Jan 25th. VAR - are you a fan?
Have to say I was never a fan of it before it was introduced but given the constant criticism of referees it was inevitable it would be used. It has been a disaster in the Women's World Cup - it's slowed the game down massively and incorrect decisions still appear to be made in respect of penalties and offsides. I'm also…

General Things that Amuse You

4 at the back?
Why? We only have one winger that’s good enough (and I’m sure some on here would debate that). Lloyd Jones is unbelievable in the middle of a 3, he’s still good in a 4 but it’s definitely not his best role. And our strikers - I don’t think any of them have what it takes to lead the line in the championship, they’re all…

Club cricket thread
The Kent and Kent Regional Cricket Leagues started up on Saturday - hope everyone had a good weekend, if they were playing! Five second rule for throw ins and goal kicks?
Proposed by IFAB according to Sky. I don’t like time wasting but five seconds for a throw in leaves no time for prep for a long throw / time for defenders to get forward. The penalty proposed is turnover of the throw and goal kick becomes a corner. Would keep the game moving but 8-10 seconds feels more realistic than 5.…

England Cricket 2026
With the Ashes now a distant memory (we wish), it is time to look forward. So, what do we have coming up for England? As with last season, I'll be keeping an eye on our loanees this season. It will be interesting to see if any of last year's loanees get moves up the pyramid. World Cup 2026 - USA/Canada/Mexico
Venues to be announced by FIFA in a ceremony later today. 23 stadiums will be reduced to around 14-16 across the three countries. I would expect four or five stadiums from Canada and Mexico and nine, ten, eleven or twelve from the States. Some local governments are scrambling over each other to offer FIFA the biggest tax…

Under 21s (Match updates and news) - pre-season friendly v Folkestone Invicta (p409)
On a personal level it is extremely disappointing that our Under 23's are seeking permission to play their matches at Beckenham Town this season. Although 5 matches will be played at the Valley, that is too far for me to travel. Of course Beckenham is far from being "Charlton heartland", but of course the regime are…

Micah Mbick - 12/3/2026 Out til end of season (at least) with multiple knee ligament injuries (p26)
Mbick, who joined the club’s esteemed academy as an U10, recently scored just three minutes into his senior debut, completing the scoring in the Addicks’ 6-1 win at Cray Valley PM in the Emirates FA Cup. The 17-year-old forward has netted 12 goals in 13 games for Charlton’s U18s and U21s so far this season.…

Africa thread - travels and places to go
Having spent some time in Kenya last year I've really caught the "Africa bug" dunno what it is but it gets under your skin. I spend so much time re-living that trip and planning future trips. So I want to hear who else has been, what are your stories and experiences? Must sees and places to avoid?
