Thought you could only have one overseas for championship cricket and two for twenty20?
Doesn't matter anyways kent probably haven't got enough money for one overseas let alone two.
Chief executive has already stated there won't be any major upheaval at the club which is a shame. Harmison nash and key need to go.
That is indeed correct re overseas players so the batsman would probably need to be someone from another county at the end of his contract with proven recent form. Look at what Will Smith has done at Hants since his move for example.
Don't forget we had enough money to pay for Bollinger this season. The new batsman would be funded by the money freed up from Key.
That's not a major upheaval. Just a couple in and a couple out but an improvement overall.
As I say look at Will Smith has done - 136* out of 240-9 for a lead of 84.
Doug Bollinger is now playing for Hobart Hurricanes. Thought we had him for the season?
The original intention was for him to play the entire season for us but given that his first allegiance is with H H we probably had no choice but to release him for the Champions League.
As a side note, following Claydon's five wicket haul he reaches 51 in the CC this season. Stevens is now on 56 and Riley just needs another two wickets for his 50.
Comments
Two for Claydon and one for Stevens.
Significant or not given the feeling that both might not be with us next season but Key and Harmison not in side.
A win will mean we finish above Surrey and that would feel rather good given their fantastic overseas and young players they have ;-)
Just hope when we bat we put on a big score 'cos we don't want the old pitch inspectors docking points do we?
112-8.
Would have been a great bowling performance if it wasn't tainted by the fact we had them 62-8.
We should now see just how good the wicket actually is.
Cowdrey out for 7
Chris Tavare's nephew William opened the innings for Gloucester
29-2.
Nash latest to go for 15.
Billings promoted to 5 from 7 and Stevens coming in at his usual 6 have put on 32 in just over 8 overs.
Edit - Close of play. Billings 13* & Stevens 18*.
Still 79 and with Tredders now in we have a bit of a tail.
63 behind.
Had glimpses of improvements but then revert back to type.
On a different note, Would like to see us use Billings in a Gilchrist type role in the shorter formats.
From an uncertain start he has really proved himself this season as evidenced by his last half a dozen scores -
39*, 92, 51, 40*, 77, 61.
His average in each comp is:
CC - 35.20
RL - 114.50
T20 - 17.50
Total of 1381 runs in all comps at an overall average this season of 38.36.
