    Justice done. Can't believe England have lost another penalty shoot out. Very poor tournament from Ashley Young culminating in that crucial miss.

    Poor crop of players at the moment. It will change in a couple of years. Time to lose the old guard now. Although Terry was fantastic over the four games.

    Well done England. No lack of effort but just weren't good enough.

    Stick with Roy, stick with the younger players, keeping building for 2016.

    Young wasn't great and missed a pen but we don't need scapegoats, we need to give them time.

    Pirlo: have to respect the balls and skill to do that.

    Spain v Germany final should be fascinating if it happens.

    England were not able to retain possession. England were poor in the final third from the 2nd half on. Rooney looked off the pace.

    Why did Ashley Cole take a penalty when he has not scored in 92 other appearances ?

    Why wasn't strikers Walcott and Andy Carroll (forward players) taking the penalties.

    In the end quality tells, and Italian individual quality told. Italians deserved to win.
    The only consolation is that we would have got hammered by Germany.

    We just dont have the quality ( never have really) . Quarters is the best we could have hoped for. We should have brought Defoe on but ifs and ans and all that. Ashley Young was dreadful.

    Young was poor, but Italy were better all over the pitch.

    2 piss poor pens from both Ashley's. Fair enough we were outplayed but Ashley Young was quite awful and no wonder we were knackered pushing up giving the ball away and then running back to defend it.

    The younger players will learn from this and know the standard they will need to reach to be successful. No substitute for experience.

    In all honesty it's the same old problem that we've had for years and it won't change soon. Our players even the quality ones are technically not as good as other nationalities. First touch and passing and movement is pedestrian and results in inability to keep possession.

    If Ashley Cole was as good at penaltys as he was at alledgy having jermaine pennants mobile phone inserted up his arse (according to t'internet) we would have won.
