In face value , a 2 year contract for a 33 year old midfielder could be considered a stop gap, and high risk, ie a player on the way down wanting a final pay.
However we don’t know his personality, whether he inspires others and is a positive influence on the team a la Andy Hughes. Just hope his legs haven’t gone!
If a player these days keeps themselves in really good condition and I suppose has been lucky with injuries then 33 is no problem at all. Arguably the worlds best player in Ronaldo is 33.
He played more than 30 games in the Championship last season. Has been team captain and is noted for his drive. I think he’ll be ok.

Yeah and I think that, realistically, to get someone like him you're going to need to offer him more than a one-year deal (or pay a tremendous amount over that year).
I just think he would make for a great augmentation to last year's squad, rather than one of the marquee signings of this summer. That being said, I'm looking forward to see Dijksteel play in midfield one day. I genuinely don't think he has since pre-season last year, where he looked a little ropey at times but also very dominant at others, and he is a year more experienced now.
I think most dictionaries would give the competent but not inspired definition for sportsmen. Only seems to be in football where journeyman is also used as well travelled.

He was largely anonymous in the draw at our place early last season and didn't feature in our win at the Macron in April (not sure of the reason why).
Could turn out to be a good signing, IF he can stay injury free,
