Joe Aribo

so often a move to the Saints is a stepping stone to a bigger Premier club, Liverpool for example .. he's a very good player and the right age .. all the very best to one of our top ex players of the past dozen years or so0

Glad he's coming back to civilization. Also glad he didn't go to palace, who I did think due to his attributes would go for him.1

Palace would have been closer to his family and friends. Joe Shields who has left Man city to take up a major recruiting role at the Saints could well have helped get Joe to the south coast but the main thing is the contract was very good and a 4 year premier contract is like winning the lottery. Aribo played 71 games last Season but all pros can be one game away from their careers being over so security for Joe until two months shy of his 30th birthday.

The Athletic but doesn’t seem to need a subscription.1 -
The above article covers so much of Joe's Journey. The most highly rated out of Aribo's peer group at Kinetic even more than Joe, Josh Maja and Omar Richards was a lad called Dan Hector who has played lower down the football pyramid and has been playing for Sevenoaks in pre season friendlies.
25 and 26 year old guys set up for life where so many of their fellow Scholars just didn't get the breaks or in some cases couldn't do it consistently.
Fickle finger of football fates.2 -
Ridiculous to think we plucked him out of non-league.17

Like a cross between Paulo Wanchop (whenever he was dribbling, no matter the bounce, where it hit him or deflected off a defender, it always seemed to end up back in his path) and Morts6

I wish he saved that Messi vibe for the premier league.
Scoring an amazing goal like that in pre season is unheard of0 -

Yes indeed - very Paul Mortimer. Lovely football to watch. I often wonder whether the ball has stopped bouncing around in the Selhurst net after his goal against Chelsea - for 3-0 I think. One of my favourite CAFC players and goals.4

Missing Joe?
Rangers Champions league campaign ended with a sixth successive loss, setting the worst group stage record in the competition's history. They finish with a minus 20 goal difference.0 -
Rangers are missing Joe Aribo who played 60+ games for Rangers last season and also Bassy the defender who went to Ajax.1

It's all gone south for Joe0 -

It's all gone south for JoeHe would thrive at Championship level IMO0 -
He's shown himself to have value in the premier league. Not sure what's gone on, but if the manager that wanted you gets the heave-ho it's always a struggle, especially if you have Aribo's style.
If you're a Championship side looking to get into the promotion picture he'd be a quality acquisition.0 -
Southampton look almost nailed on to get relegated - if they do drop, they'd be mad to let him go to another promotion challenger.
Suspect he might find another lower end Premier League club to go to. Or somewhere abroad like the Eredivisie.0
