The whole format could probably do with a shake up. Creative thinking needed. I watch on catch up, and always fast forward through the 'punditry' as i think it is dull. Punditry reduces time where we could be watching some action. No studio chat has improved the EFL programme on ITV in my opinion.
I haven’t watched match of the day for over fifteen years so no loss there then but I do enjoy his presenting during tournaments and his podcasts which I believe he is going to continue to do .
I am sure he'll go and nosebag somewhere else. He cannot help himself spouting off at something or another. More time to take in a few illegals into his own mansion.
Everything has to come to end. I think he’s a good presenter - interested to see who comes next. Hopefully Chapman, (although as 90% of viewed forward wind through the analysis, it doesn’t really matter (although of course it does)).
Really like Mark Chapman, would be a very good choice.
Yes he gets my vote. But I fear he may be looked over as he’s a white male. I really hope they do it on merit and not to look ‘diverse’.
Just do away with presenters and the useless tactical breakdown stuff they do, literally list the games they will show, by order of watch-ability/excitement, and then just show the highlights of those games with the commentary over the top. That way you either fit more football highlights into the same length of time, or the programme doesn't need to be so long
I know he's not everyone's cup of tea now but as someone who saw him play and score countless times for England, he'll always be a hero in my eyes.
His late equaliser against Poland in Poznan in 1991 that saw us qualify for the Euros in '92, is in my top 3 celebrations of goals I've seen live (the other 2 are Wembley 2019 and Aizelwood's equaliser at Spurs in the FA cup in 1985).
I hope so, she was a world class footballer and represented her country on 140 occasions. She is also a great pundit and presenter too.
I don't mind her as a pundit, but I think she is an average presenter. If we're talking female football presenters, the likes of Jacqui Oatley or Katie Shanahan are much better
The option that makes most sense is Mark Chapman but he does Saturdays on 5 Live so would just create the need for another reshuffle. Could see someone like Gabby Logan doing it maybe
Funny innit. You know full well that if Lineker was advocating right wing policies, those with steam coming from under their collars who don't know the difference between illegal and asylum seeker would be hanging on his every word, not moaning on about people in sport/media/the public eye keeping out of politics...
I am sure he'll go and nosebag somewhere else. He cannot help himself spouting off at something or another. More time to take in a few illegals into his own mansion.
Nothing against Lineker as a presenter per se, but to be honest I haven't watched MOTD live for a few years now. I always chug it through all the chat and punditry and just watched the football. Makes no odds to me who replaces him. Chapman or Gabby Logan are probably a good shout but I will still fast forward them

pretty much the same unless there is a major incident in the match, all this said I think he should go just because of the cost to a public broadcaster. I know he presents one of the most popular shows on the BBC but they have a monopoly on the football highlights and in reality i doubt the viewing figures will drops because as you alluded to most arent tuning in to hear what the presenter/pundits are saying

It'd be worth it just to see the reaction from all the gammons.
Which is exactly NOT a reason for appointing someone.
Don't think he was serious, i think we can all agree Alex Scott's CV speaks for itself as to why she should get the job, rattling "gammons" isnt a reason
They get too carried away with the virtual studio and the graphics they can use, which means spinning the punditry out further. But agree, start watching it 15 minutes after the start and just fast forward.

And when he speaks he has very annoying views.
Can't stand the smug pompous prick
