If we couldn't find a squad in the time available with a manager in place how the fuck are we going to rebuild without a manager? Wimbledon seemed to move quickly enough. Evidently there was no plan. Fucking Charlton
Would think the most head strong of successful managers would listen to how TS intends on doing things and would run a mile.
As I said, expect to be very underwhelmed. Unless TS alters is pig headed stance then this club will never prosper imho.3 -

To think, some of you were convinced we had a chance of getting Warburton.1

Great result for the bookmakers, was never quoted on a single market, an absolute skinner for them.3

No, as someone rather crudely put it to me on WhatsApp, it's not going to give anyone a hard on but he does have a solid coaching background.
Can't say that he feels like a huge improvement on Jackson, who I'd have preservered with, but he's young and seems like a modern attacking coach who plays and develops younger players so he ticks a lot of boxes for TS.
At least, if it is confirmed, the club can move on with signings and pre-season games.
Curbs said at Bromley Addicks a few weeks ago that the advice he got from an experienced manager when he was starting out was "just win some f****** games"
I suggest my namesake does the same and very soon.21 -

Entitlement reeks. Better get in some 60 year old failed Championship manager instead.23 -
The long coaching video of his interview posted above has the topics described as you go along the progress bar. Towards the end it covers data in football, so I watched it for a bit, and Ben Garner definitely thinks the use of data will become, if it hasn't already, very very significant.4

Positives:
Comes in with low expectations from Charlton fans.
A step up, and hopefully a wage increase from managing in league 2.
Negatives
I’ll let you lot fill them in….

Can confirm they're still interviewing. Doesn't seem as set in stone as it appears.9

What a time to be alive.2

I want a young, progressive, attacking coach.
nO nOt ThAt OnE!!!
Some people need a reality check.
IMO this is a very good appointment. You will be surprised.19 -
I feel more persuaded by this appointment than I did about dear Nigel Adkins, so for me that's a start.
I wish him well, why not? If he does well we do well.
What will his chant be?1 -

I’m not Sandgaard’s biggest fan but the reaction on here is pretty negative. We’ve gotta give Garner a chance here and a lot dismissing him have probably never watched a team of his. Palace or not, pretty good experience as a first team coach at a good level. The big plus for me is that he’s being allowed to bring his own coaching staff with him.Good luck to him. Sandgaard has to back him in the transfer market.10

Woah,
Ben Garner
Woah.
We got him cos he’s cheap,
He makes the Palace weep.8 -
Canny choice. I wonder who is advising him?I have said before it will take us two more years to get out of this league, but think we have a good chance of playoffs this season now.
Pleased we have a young progressive manager.Looking forward to reading the signings thread in the coming days and hearing how the recruitment team is shit and MS should not have been given the job.3 -
Come on chaps, there is one massive positive in that lot - Swindon reached the 3rd round of the FA Cup under him for the first time in a decade. At last a Manager who gives the Cup some respect.3
-
I'm underwhelmed, but I'm invariably wrong.
I wanted Gritt not Curbs.
I was overjoyed when we appointed Pardew.
So as always I back the owner & manager.
Best wishes to Ben Garner.29 -
Just checked and he has a lot better record than the last two managers who got us promoted. Is it a sexy signing - no?
will reserve judgement until we actually play under him.People have wildly overestimated who we can attract to come to league one7
