My Scottish mother in law always called him a 'Dick ' , so for that reason I'm out on him.KBslittlesis said:Is it just the Celtic thing that put people of Lennon?

He seems a competent manager so I wouldn't be against it at this point. I feel the manager should be in place now as I have previously observed. The managers we can bring in will all have a risk attached and to think you can interview out that risk is crazy when it is clear what the potential is from the candidate's records. What these men have previously achieved and done and indeed where they have failed is there for all to see.
I love Curbs but his book was a bit dry. But one thing that it did highlight was the bollocks involved in interviewing him for the England job. Self important people trying to be too clever, probably justifying their own positions, and usually getting it wrong.1

You didn't even have to type 'discuss' afterwards to ruffle a few feathers with this one!Henry Irving said:Neil Lennon and Mick McCarthy dream team.

Well they played together for 2 seasons. If you was going for a job and you knew someone who used to work there would you not ask them?ShootersHillGuru said:I’m not saying it’s inaccurate that Taylor will “inevitably “ have spoken to Jackson but I’m not convinced these statements are always true. I’m sure if MT really wanted to get hold of Jackson’s number he could but how much credence would you place on asking the person who’s just been sacked from the job you are considering ? I’m not saying JJ would have an axe to grind but it’s possible. It might be different if they were dear old chums but I doubt the two have spoken to each other for years. Always seems odd to me that these clichéd assumptions about asking advice on the job you want are rolled out every time.
They dont know what they are missing.1

He did ok at Celtic, although Rangers were out of existence for some of those seasons and he followed Rodgers, who had laid the foundations for success in the first year of his second spell.MuttleyCAFC said:He seems a competent manager so I wouldn't be against it at this point. I have no interest in his religion/ethnicity/politics, but he strikes me as one of those managers that has seen better days.1

If people don’t want Lennon cos he’s shit or bad at managing players then that’s fair dos.
If it has anything to do with sectarian nonsense then that’s just plain bollox.17

Wow, that some serious anger right there. Is there a personal connection, is it based on his record, or is in an anti Celtic thing?Gravesend_Addick said:

Was a horrible little shit when he was a player

Talks shit about other teams all the time
Refused to come out for the 1 minute silence for the Ibrox disaster
Never stops moaning about his teams being picked on
Purposely winds up opposition fans when he should be keeping his mouth shut
 He's a shit manager
 He's ginger 3 3

For me it's absolutely the management.KBslittlesis said:If people don’t want Lennon cos he’s shit or bad at managing players then that’s fair dos.

His first four years at Celtic went quite well (with the caveat of having little competition for the last three of those four years). Then he was awful at Bolton, getting them relegated. Then he got suspended & agreed mutual termination with Hibs. Then in his second spell at Celtic, he had a good platform set by Rodgers and within two years he'd taken them backwards. You're now seeing what a decent manager like Postecoglou has done with the same club the year since he left. No idea what he's been like in Cyprus but finishing 7th with a team that won the league the season before is concerning.1
-
Not sure either way really, I would question why he’s ended up in Cypriot football if he is still regarded as a good manager which makes it sound like I think Cypriot football is shit buy hey!😬🤣, I have no grounds for saying this, but he doesn’t feel like a good fit for Charlton, which ultimately could be a good thing as it may be what we need.I’m not overly excited by the prospect but if that’s what happens he starts with a clean slate. So basically I’ve got splinters in my arse over this one.🤣0
-

You’d think that if these things are true then there’s no way he’ll get the job. Or am I being naive, and far too trusting of the selection set up?roseandcrown said:KBslittlesis said:If people don’t want Lennon cos he’s shit or bad at managing players then that’s fair dos.

Edit: having read the above posts on this I’d be very very surprised if he get the job.0

Neil Lennon has been manager for 324 games in Scotland and England.
His win rate has been 54%.
 His draw rate 19%
 His loss rate 27%.
Are these the kind of numbers that make a manager atrocious?
My maths is uncertain, but those numbers would give us around 91 points if replicated in a league one season.
Is there evidence that Lennon’s mojo is shot?4

I should have thought those teams would win more than they lose without any manager.8

Surely only the last of your points is relevant. And the other points show a bias that negates the relevant part. Having said that, my gut feeling is there are probably better options out there. I just wish we would stop farting around interviewing people and appoint somebody.Gravesend_Addick said:KBslittlesis said:

I wonder what the average American who knows 10 times more than the average sky sports subscriber and more about modern attacking football than those in English football would do?Covered End said:
