I'm not sure the absolute NUMBER of headers won is that meaningful an individual stat, as it's more a sign of how a team plays. We're more direct than some of the other, so the No 9 will have more headers than if he played for a tiki-taka team.
The win/loss ratio is a better indicator, it's just better than 50/50, which definitely puts him at the higher end, but behind real aerial beasts like Wootton, Palmer and Steven Fletcher.
All three who are very experienced players with well over 1,000 appearances between them.
Indeed
My concern with Miles this season, isn't his aerial ability, but that he seems to have lost some zip in his legs. A couple of seasons ago he was brisk enough to play as a right winger in a 433, and it was that which made him such a good prospect.
He definitely looks a tad slower than when he first came into the team and zip is a good way to describe it. Both Leaburn and Kanu were decent athletes and personally I'm disappointed that Daniel isn't making the bench as he is quick off the mark as he proved when he came on at the valley and did runs that only TC can replicate out of the forwards.
"Good touch for a big man" is still true for Miles but has anyone considered that going from 6ft 4in to 6ft 6in plus the 3 injuries may have added to young Miles not seeming to be as quick as when he was 18 ? He can still have a very good career and put the injuries behind him what ever his ceiling (needs to be high !)
I remember Carl Tiler (Former Centre half for the youngens),talking about coming back from a years injury. Initially you are doing well, but its fuelled by adrenalin and then your body drops back to recovery and match fitness gaining mode and it can take a season to fully recover. Miles has had over a year off, has not had a preseason, possibly questioning his own ability and is still young. He may be a busted flush or his potential that we all saw and most of us see, will come to the fore more next season than this, but hopefully we will see some as this season progresses.
Where does 30 goals put him in out all-time top scorers list? He must be getting close to the likes of Kermorgant and BWP? Maybe even someone like Andy Hunt?

20th. 3 more goals this season and he would be 15th.
Ed. Scratch that. The list of top scorers for us has not even got Derek Hales on it so clearly rubbish

Assuming that the number of goals scored, in that list, are at least accurate, then he's up amongst some good company in terms to total goals scored.
I will put it out there, i genuinely believe this kid will play PL football consistently and will win a cap for England, that's how much i rate him.
i knew this would get some LOL's but i genuinely believe it, that much that i've put money on it. how many 6ft6+ strikers are there out there who were doing what he does and has done at his age? infact, how many 21 year olds have his Games to goals ratio at that age in any division in the last 10 years? 90 games for charlton, 38 goal contributions, that is fucking incredible, even for league one at that age. to put it into perspective, here are some stats of up and coming and previous young goalscorers from the champ and L1;
First 3 full professional seasons -
Miles Leaburn - 90 games - 30 goals - 8 assists
Ivan Toney – 62 games – 13 goals – 4 assists
Dom Ballard – Reading – 36 games – 5 goals (L1 and Champ)
Charlie Kelman - 58
games – 9 goals – 1 assist (Champ & L1)
Ricky jade jones – Peterborough – 52 games – 4 goals – 3 assists
(L1 and Champ)
Adam Armstrong – 120 games – 38 goals – 11 assist
Joe Gelhardt – 53g – 6goals – 10 assists (predominately PL
and Champ)
Karlan Grant – 103 games – 30 goals – 9 assists (L1 &
Champ)
You are twisting statistics to prove your point. Many of the players above were playing at a league higher. You are also including the crap EFL trophy for Miles where he is playing against lesser competition and u21 sides where he scored 7 in 7 seven which distorts his stats. Be honest your projection is based on opinion and not facts and there is nothing wrong with that. It is just a football forum we are all speculating to various degrees
Not sure why we berated Miles so much in his recent starts. He’ been up against some tough League 1 defenders away from home. Godden wouldn’t have been the right choice.
Particularly the Stockport game, if you could call that a game. He just needs a goal and he’ll shoot us to 2nd!!😉
Stockley was a key player for us until his injury IMO. In both boxes. Miles has potential written all over him and I'm sure he will get to where he wants to be. Obviously, the sooner the better.

Oddly enough, I think he will do better in the Championship where there’s not so much of a bully boy way of defending.

I don't even want to reply as I used the same statistics for all players, it's not twisting, it's FACTS

Of course it's based on his opinion, it's a prediction about the future.

Stockley’s best run of goals came immediately after coming back from said injury.
Some more stats on Miles “doesn’t win any headers” Leaburn here
So he's 6'6'' and has won a net 6 headers this season. I like Leaburn but I wouldn't call them stats impressive. Now, if he was 5'6'' ......
6’7” but if our CBs were losing half their headers we’d be furious that they’re not good enough.
Most strikers on the list lose more than they win.
Quote is messed up and some of this may have already been addressed but... hes 5th in win rate on that list, and one of only 5 with a rate better than 50%. Kone who is 5th in total challenges has a rate of 38.98% so Wycombe should take a look at their playing style. Something that jumps out to me is the number of challenges Ahadme and Leaburn have in relatively low games played. Ahadme is second per game at 11.9 total challenges, and Leaburn is 4th with 10.3. Leaburn is also the second (or joint second) youngest player on the list behind Draper. The players with a better win rate than Leaburn are 37,28,33,29,30. Gassan is the only other player under 25 in the top 10.

I’m with you that he will make it to the PL, if not the England cap. I said the same thing on here about JonJo Shelvey, when other people were slagging him off at the same stage of that season. Possibly a factor in Parky giving up on him. We lost out in the playoffs with the infamous Bailey penalty, and JonJo went straight off to Liverpool.

I think we sold Shelvey before the playoffs so he didn’t feature. He could have been the difference, as even if he didn’t start he at least came off the bench.

I don’t recall that we had already sold him, but anyway Parky lost the appetite to fit him into the team long before we got to that stage.
Absolutely agree he could have been the difference, with a manager who knew how to use him effectively. I’m not anti-Parky but he was inexperienced then and I think he just panicked when JonJo lost his way a bit in a few games and some of our oh-so-smart fans started getting on his back.

I thought we had an agreement to sell, but as money was tight, we felt we couldn't risk him getting an injury, so we chose not to play him?

I think we should enjoy Miles Leaburn whilst we have him, too many young players have left recently without us enjoying a couple of seasons of their career.
Burstow, Gomez and Konsa just a few that come quickly to mind.

What can happen is people look at a striker and think about duels with a centre half when a striker like Leaburn makes a fair number of defensive headers which count and so they should. It irritated me that Stockley didn't get the credit from some he should have for his defensive importance.
If Stockley wasn’t complete and utter dog turd at his job as a striker, he probably would have got more credit for his defensive contributions.
So the season he had 20 goals from 38 matches for CAFC in all competitions and he missed 6 weeks of the season, "he was utter dog turd" in your opinion. Or in the 2017/18 and into the 18/19 for Exeter when he scored 36 goals in 66 apps with the most headed goals in 12 months in the EFL before getting a move to Preston in the Championship for a decent contract.
Jayden had his limitations obviously like so many big strikers in the lower divisions that don't have pace but his Career at CAFC never recovered from the Garner era when he wanted Stockley to play like Harry Kane and drop deep and lay the ball off before making runs into the box. If you were watching you would've seen ball flying over his head and he showed his anger at the lack of quality.
At 31 he is still earning a decent living in football with Port Vale so not a bad life in my opinion for a Journeyman footballer who knew his limitations but some teams including CAFC tried to take away his main weapon which was his heading ability.
I agree. It was the same with Magennis. Got dog's abuse when the only tactic was lump it up in the air surrounded by two centre backs and none of our players around him. Too many of our fans are uneducated in football not to see it.
We have had so many managers I have no idea who the manager was. Who was also uneducated.
Jones says he's seen the specialist, it was an innoxious injury, had a couple of days off, came back in did some work, felt something... and now they're waiting for the scan results.
