Pat on the back for NJ, before he came TC was going nowhere except out of the door, maybe on loan, then NJ decided to play him as a striker, which most on here did not agree with. It took a few games and others to work with him but now we know what NJ saw and we did not.
His current role is basically his best position, a wide attacker, able to cut in on his stronger foot. It's a similar role to the one CBT played for us, with a lot of attacking freedom.
Full marks to NJ for restoring his confidence and seeing his potential, after an awful season where his confidence was shot, and he copped some real abuse.

He must have done a lot of strengthening work in the summer. Last season he was like a boy playing in men's football, with the odd flash of brilliance. This season he can hold his own against most defenders and regularly demonstrates his upper body strength. He is now a real threat , going inside or out and his crossing has also improved.
Almost as if teenagers can grow and develop, who knew
It's not just that teenagers can grow and develop, the difference is massive, mentally as well as physically. By the end of last season he had over 50 appearances, ample time to have improved. Whatever he did over the summer has changed him.
The environment is also a huge factor, game time alone isn’t enough. You’re right he had made over 50 appearances, but many were off the bench, and in his two full seasons he played under four managers in Garner, Holden, Appleton (who destroyed his confidence) and Jones, plus caretakers. All used different formations and playing styles which doesn’t help senior players, never mind academy players coming through.
TC has got fitter and stronger - no doubt helped by the better medical/sports science etc setup we now have as well as Jones.
In Jones we have a better manager who has helped him get his confidence back, and he’s in a settled team that are winning games. Tactics have helped too. When we defend he stays high up the pitch as one of two strikers so his defensive weaknesses aren’t exposed, while he still gets the freedom to drift out wide on the left and play his natural game.
If we were still sacking managers, going through takeovers and trying to scrape together points to stay in L1 I doubt TC would have made the same progress.
All these improvements should help others break through and develop more/faster. The u21s even play 3-5-2 just like the first team, which can only make the step up easier. Players like Gomez, Shelvey and Lookman were so good they stood out regardless. Most aren’t at that level, but if we get the environment in a good place players like TC have plenty to offer.
A bit of a mess for any player, let alone a youngster trying to establish himself. He is now a massive asset for the team and I hope that we can keep hold of him, because there will be no shortage of suitors in the summer.
I'm loving the player Tyreece is becoming. An absolute menace. Must be a right pain in the arse for any defensive unit. In their faces from the off and doesn't let up for a second. But Ignore him at your peril. He's bringing goals to the party now!
First game of the season at Wigan , bang in front of us in the away end , I said who the fuck is that I couldn’t recognise him , this season he’s so 🥩’d up he’s a different being he’s added that to his game and rather than be dominated he’s dominating the oppo with his strength . his will to attack is what will win us games
It’s defo a telling sign when all of his teammates were over the moon with his finish. We having something here
I feel like that is happening with all the players at the moment. It definitely feels like they are a really close knit group. Dare I say this may be why Jones brought all his old boys in, because he knew they would have this effect.
I said a while back that TC should model himself on Lookman, winger turned striker. Of course they would have been at our Academy at the same time. Lovely to see the encouragement from Ade. Much as I ❤️ Tupac, not sure I see him making the ballon d’or shortlist.

Lookman is 27 and Campbell 21. I guess they know each other through our academy but Lookman would have left us when TC was 13/14.

To be fair, as good as Lookman was for us I didn't see him making the Ballon d'Or shortlist either!
It would be fascinating to see our last two managers behind the scenes I think. Nathan Jones has a reputation for being insane and if you watch him during a game he's ranting and raving, screaming at players and fuming when they get something wrong, but the players all speak so highly of the support and confidence he gives them outside of matches. Appleton was completely stoic on the pitch, gave absolutely no reaction when something went wrong but you can tell from what Tyreece said that he must have been getting a lot of criticism and lack of belief from him away from the pitch. It's funny that Appleton claimed any reaction from managers on the sidelines was acting when it sounds like the reality is that he was just holding back his negativity for after the games when he could hurt the players more. What an idiot.

Agreed, you can see with Jones how much he cares about about every match. Almost like its not an occupation but a vocation for him, he looks in pain at times. I feel previously we have had managers like Appleton, who just see losing as part of football and didn't seemed fussed if they got the sack.
Also I heard from some sources that Appleton's grand plan during the downtown under him was literally get them on the training ground, run them in to the ground whilst he shouted how sh*t they were at them.

Well the club have answered that question.
Aww Tyreece looks absolutely tiny there. I've definitely seen that picture before, but couldn't remember where, or I would've posted it earlier.

Getting a couple of menches as a potential POTY, tonight.
Big turnaround from a year ago when his attitude was under scrutiny, many wanted him released, and he was on the boo-boys hit list. His redemption arc has been the feel-good story of NJ's tenure so far.

Now just to add some more goals.
He was ‘on the boo-boys back’ because he wasn’t performing, lightweight, looked very low on confidence and appeared disinterested.
He always had ability but it looked like it wasn’t going to be enough and it was only be shown fleetingly. The growth in size, strength, fitness and attitude has been enormous. It is not the same player. Jones must take credit for this, but so too must Tyreece as only the individual can drive the attitude change.
If you want a comparison, I bet his individual stats comparison of yards covered, times with ball, positive impacts, duels etc between when we got knocked out the cup by Gillingham in Dec 23 under Appleton to last night would appear as two different players. I bet for a start he run between 100%-200% more last night
I think TC might be our best player in terms of making things happening, could have had 2/3 assists last night if we were a bit more clinical, sky is the limit for Tupac at this point imo, if he can work on his own clinical finishing, he can go right to the top

Apparently Tyreece spent most of the off season in the summer in the gym working on his upper body. Good lord are we seeing the benefits of that now - he's completely changed his game. His acceleration was always outstanding but now he can hold a player off so much better and it's made him an exceptional player. If he can sort his final ball out he'll be in huge demand

He's obviously very popular with his team mates. The scenes at full time were lovely too.
Also, he clearly did an enormous amount of work over the summer on his strength. I'd never have guessed he could become a striker, but Nathan saw it.
It's an unusual lop-sided system we play with width on the left from a striker dropping out and on the right from a wingback bombing on.

“I like working under him,” said Campbell. “He shows a lot of trust in me. He gives me so much confidence on the pitch
“I’m playing for a manager that trusts me. Even if I make mistakes, he still believes in me. It helps a lot."
Says a lot with few words
