Someone posted a brilliant clip of Brownie after the match yesterday in the post match thread, may have been Callum, watch that and tell me if that sounds like Hector.
I am not picking on Hector, this is a thread about him, much worse examples in our squad of what I am talking about then him.
Yes our team is being coached badly right now but we have too many players who lack the desire not just the ability to fight and drag our team to results against weaker teams who want to bring us down to their level over the 90 minutes.
We either need to recruit better or get a coach who can fire up those players to perform to that level on a weekly basis.
Did a mistake from Hector contribute to their goal? The answer is undoubtedly yes. Of course, other players could have done better afterwards but he still needs to be included in the blame.
If he was championship quality he'd be playing in the championship. It's as simple as that. Don't forget he spent the whole summer waiting for a better offer to come in and nothing did, so clearly the view of his loyal fan club on here is not shared by the wider footballing world
He signed for us in June???
The Hector exaggerations are now coming about off the pitch as well as on the pitch
Yeah fair enough, seemed later to me based on how early the season finished.
Still only about a week shy of 2 months from the end of the season to signing a new deal. No one better wanted him, otherwise he'd have been gone.
some criticism has gone over the top but the defending of him by a few is, like his own, hilarious.
Spot on Large.
There's no shadow of a doubt that his fcuk up led to the goal yesterday. He wasn't the only one at fault for the goal but if he makes that routine clearance than AMB doesn't flap, Fraser does panic, CBT doesn't get brushed off the ball and Edun doesn't fall over rather than put in a tackle. And also, who was supposed to be picking up the scorer in the middle?
It was a catalogue of errors, but all instigated by Hector's initial fuck up.
That's just a fact. Where people want to apportion blame in all of that lot will vary, but in my mind he had to take a major share. Not all of it, but certainly a large chunk.
But leaving the goal aside, how many times did we let the ball bounce in our area? If you have two dominant centre halves then that should never happen, but with us it happens all the time. I keep reading how Hector - and Jones - are class acts, but decent defenders just wouldn't let that happen. Either they are getting their nut on it or they are screaming at someone else to.
The ball bouncing in our box might have something to do with the fact we had T Watson, Edun, Fraser, C Campbell, CBT and Kanu as auxiliary players who might have been expected to do something about the ball into the box, all of whom are weak and bullyable. Dobson isn't unbullyable in the air either, which leaves Jones and Hector as the two you'd expect to do the vast majority of the clearing, which is too much for two players
Also, Hector as one of the players who doesn't care? That is not my view at all. He is always at the ref, he's constantly at our players and his reaction every time we concede is pissed off as hell. There ARE players out there whom I don't think care so much (not so much shirking but certainly not giving 100%) but he isn't one of them
Feel like Hector has landed himself in the overrated by some and underrated by the rest category. He's probably somewhere inbetween.
Yesterday he didn't play well if we are honest, he just didn't play particularly bad, his passing was pretty poor apart from one peach in the first half, was mainly long balls, which is a coaching issue surely? Would he even need to be attempting as many passes if we had a midfield that could control a game?
God forbid we can outdo the likes of Carlisle, Leyton Orient and Burton in the middle of the park
Either way, one of the ones I wasn't actually that fucked off with and I appreciate him having the bottle to walk over to our fans.
If he was as good as made out to be though, he'd have a championship gig at a club like Huddersfield or Plymouth, not a one year contract at Charlton.
Happy to see him go next season, as I don't see him as part of the needed rebuild, but he will leave with no ill will from me, such as previous Charlton players have.
Glad you've shifted your view slightly. As I keep saying, if he wasn't surrounded by dross I think we'd be seeing a different player, but we might not get a chance to see that
Think people are forgetting that one of the reasons he finds himself here is for family reasons. It might be that a Championship club might have considered him but he wants to be in/around London

Yeah mate I won't lie to die on a hill. I can acknowledge that the last few games he's been one of the better performers, I am just of the firm belief we could still do better.
I do believe however if we had more leaders in the team and better players, he could do a job in a back 3 centre back formation as he is cool on the ball and can open lanes with his passing.
As a two man pairing with a team that is dying for fighters, not so sure. Would opt for Jones all day
I do rate Hector, but I think our midfield being so poor is making him look even better at the moment. He’s the only player that can pick a forward pass
Had the Orient CH made Hector's mistake in similar circumstances, I can confidently say that we wouldn't have scored from it. The ball would have been cleared, blocked or otherwise protected by another of their players coming to the rescue. Every mistake that Hector makes, or any other defender, gets punished every single time. It's because we lack desire, fight and determination and we have a soft underbelly.
All players make the odd mistake throughout a game, it's just that ours always seems to result in a goal conceded.

Having to do the work of two men with that complete waste of space T Watson floating about meaninglessly (as in that clip) finally got to him eh? I thought this is what you all wanted to see! Gets a toe on the ball too I think; barely even a foul
Also, nothing will ever make up for the Blizzard on Basey assault
Not to mention Bristol Rovers had Sam Finley as Captain last night
He was the little shit who stamped on someone's head when we beat Accrington in 2018/19 during the fracas that saw their Goalkeeper and Taylor sent off
Curbs: I think Hector will be really disappointed that he's allowed Harris to get in behind. He can't allow him to do that. He's got to work harder to get in front of him and cut it out.
I’ve had to throw everything at cutting that out he is inept, swaggers around thinking he can do it at half pace. Open to another year I’m open to ripping up your contract and jogging you on
It’s a testament to how bad the defence have been that they’re getting plaudits for the most basic things that they should be able to do with no problem. Yesterday Hector let a high ball bounce but then calmly dealt with it before the attacker could get in. He got a big clap but I’m sure it was more because having watched him all season, people feared/expected him to mess it up and the clap was more in relief that he hadn’t.

Passes into the final third yesterday:
Dobson (9), Campbell (2) and Fraser (5) combined: 16
Hector: 15
wtf is our midfield doing?

And quite right, Leuth, that Blizzard challenge will never be forgotten.
