I like him, he is a player who is squeezing everything out of what he has and we can all relate to that. Goes in for everything like he means it

Him equalising people is a pleasure and a thing of beauty to behold

Head scratcher as to why he didn't start against Middlesbrough, particularly as he'd started the abandoned game. His energy has been badly needed.

like i just said about tanto, KA is as brave as they come - goes into challenges with no fear and makes challenges others would get nowhere near to  - my son thinks he's the worst player we've ever had and tbh, on the ball, i can see his point but he's the epitomy of a midfield destroyer and there's always room for those, whatever the level.

Matt Penney, Nile John, the Matt Smith’s and Omar Bogle want a word. And that’s only from the last 5 years!

Bit of a rough diamond 💎
Just needs a bit of fine polishing, without losing any of his aggressiveness.

He needs to do a reverse Scott Parker - tidy up on the ball and keep his aggression.
And also not be a total fucking prick

The youth of some of our players can sometimes not feature in the thinking of part of our support.
Especially when people are being critical.
Karoy only turned 21 in October. He is a committed footballer who can certainly take the pain, and will work unselfishly for others. He is unlikely to be given nice cushioned passes in free space, he has to dive into midfield cauldrons.
Great lad (although I admit my bias in favour of home grown players), and they certainly deserve support for a number of reasons.
With TC, opponents often remark how threatening he is, but our own fans are less appreciative (see also Leaburn) which is depressing.
Will Fullah get similar treatment in the future?
Anyway well played yesterday Karoy, my man of the match.

  • He breaks the play up and gets stuck in. I remember Kishishev getting criticism as a limited player but he had a similar role to play.

Arguably more effective at this level than he would be in League One.

We don’t need him to play much football at all. However his energy and pressing was key to stopping Birmingham carving through us yesterday.

I still think we need a third midfielder in January to play alongside Coventry and Carey, however this is KA’s chance to keep himself in the side.

So true! Didnt we move kish into centre mid, and his passes werent the best etc and started to get criticised/booed from memory.

i think karoy needs to keep playing at this level consistently to play/learn his way put of the rawness and sloppy mistakes. If he can, he will be a top player. Either way we need his tenacity and athleticism in our engine room right now

Thinking back, Darren Pratley was more effective in the Championship for us then in his first season in L1 also.

In L1, we're "big boys" with lots of possession, and expected to break teams down with our quality. Up a level, we're up against teams with bigger budgets and technically better players. Stopping them playing becomes much more important. Pratley was a better player in that role than Karoy due to his experience, but Karoy's energy is definitely an asset.

Baffling why he hasn't featured more this season. There have definitely been games in the last few weeks where we should have packed the midfield more, and make things harder for the opposition to play through us.

I’m sure he has a good touch and is capable of a decent level of technique. We’ve seen it at youth level. I think the occasion of first team football means the adrenaline is pumping a bit too much and can mean his technique leaves him a bit. Also, can mean he can be a bit reckless in a challenge and pick up cards. If he can find a way to contain that, without losing the aggression, he’ll go up a level and be some player. I’m confident he will.

He would have had to drop the captain Docherty very early in the season in order to play Anderson.
No way was our best scorer Carey being dropped earlier in the season and he wasn't going to replace Coventry,

Which is why I mentioned the last few weeks, when we've started struggling and been up against a series of decent sides. Knibbs and Berry have both been starting games, when Karoy could have provided a more defensive and athletic option.
  • Has anyone got any footage of his run-up with Ratboy yesterday?

I suppose Nathan Jones was looking for someone who could score a goal as his priority.

I've sometimes quoted Laurie McMenemy when his underdog Southampton side finished in 2nd place in the top tier:

"To be successful, a team needs 9 virtuoso players and 2 road sweepers".

I think this one is more applicable to NJs style of play. Hopefully we won't be leaving TC playing the piano on his own again.

Let's hope (and i think he was) Bill was more right than Lawrie - its the 3 who can play the damn thing that Phil Chapple should be scouring the planet for if we are to consolidate and progress

It’s not that baffling, up until the last month Docherty, Coventry and Carey were all having outstanding seasons. We signed a midfielder who’s played in the championship for £750k and he couldn’t get a game either. A lot of people on here were saying we should send Karoy out on loan in the summer

He’s had to be patient, but he’s seized his opportunity brilliantly
