There’s a lot of pretty disrespectful posts on this thread. It’s extremely frustrating that Chuks isn’t available to play more matches and more minutes in those matches, I’m sure it frustrates him even more because he doesn’t lack effort or act like he doesn’t care when he does play.
Fact is, despite everything, we miss him as an option when he’s gone and he improves us when he’s available. That’s been the case throughout his, much maligned, long contract which has seen various managers, systems, and players come and go. I probably wouldn’t renew his contract in the summer, but we need to figure out how we get some of what Chuks gives us without having Chuks to provide it.
Amdy Faye is THE worst player ever to play for us and look what he cost us - £2 Mil . Comparing him to Chuks is ridiculous . I know Chucks has massive injury problems but at least when he he does get a game he put's everything into it. When Amdy Faye played we might as well have had ten men on the pitch. I've never seen a player hide from the ball as he did. He stole a living
No chance. He played over 100 premier league games and has a load of caps for Senegal. He's like Roy Keane compared to some of the shit we've had since in league one.
Being shit in the PL is very different to being shit in the bottom half of league one.
It's all relative though isn't it. Sure, Amdy Faye was probably a 'better player' than, say, Matt Taylor, but one of those was a key part of our record breaking champion team and the other was a huge part of getting us relegated from the top level at the worst possible time for us, which we've never recovered from. Maybe Faye would have been very useful for us in L1 but we had him in the Premier League and you've got to assess players at the level they're at.
I’ll say it yet again, Josh Parker’s performance in the play-off final redeems all of his previous performances, will always appreciate how hard he worked in that game and his hold-up play despite not being the biggest was immense. Can understand why he appears in these “worst players list” but I always find it a little unfair as he absolutely showed up for that game

I agree. No way he should be remembered in any way other than a positive signing. He was a back up signing in case our late deal didn't come through, which it didn't. His role for the team in the final was significant.
Barry Endean Andy Jones ..saw us as a stepping stone to Anfield, but ended up being obscurity
I had hoped that I had managed to erase all memories of Barry Endean from my mind. Truly atrocious. Andy Jones was a Maradona type player by comparison!

Amdy Faye would have been dogshit in league one. He was absolute pony - definitely the worst player I've seen regularly in a Charlton shirt (with the possible exception of Llera, though even he had better games than Faye)
There's definitely some revisionist thinking going on about Amdy Faye. I'm sure he was voted "Player of the Month" in August. By Charlton fans...
There's nothing revisionist about it. He was absolute toss. A fraud of a footballer. Less use than Omar Pouso.
From memory he had a few half decent games when he filled in at centre back. He looked "alright" in those games, but that was largely in the context of his abject performances in centre midfield, the position we bought him for.
It's a bit like voting for Steve Brown as one of our greatest ever keepers.

Yes it is relative in terms of the player, but when judging 'the worst signing' (where this conversation began) you consider them for what they were signed to do. That is why most of the 06/07 signings (although technically better) would be considered some of the worst signings in the clubs history. Case and point: Hasselbaink was probably technically better than Chuks though in a Charlton shirt Chuks (.2 I might add) is the better signing.
Any chance we can start a new thread for “The worst signings made” or something. I can see why rumours threads etc get derailed but I keep seeing unread posts and assuming Chuks has picked up a knock

Glad to see my opinion remains consistent, 13 years on 😂😂😂
I messaged my mate about the worst transfer since 76 comment and we’ve come up with a list of players that we deem worse signings than Chuks. Huge apologies in advance but it’s astounding how much guff we’ve signed in the last 20 years let alone 50. Please absolutely nobody quote this post.
How depressing is that. We've all wasted a good chunk of our lives watching these losers over the years. Chuks is miles ahead of this bunch.
Don’t quote it.
Says the man quoting the message in full to tell him off for quoting the message in full 🙄

Well it was a fucking inconsiderate one.
Wtf?? Because people might have to scroll for a few extra seconds? Get a grip.
Worst thing from the Bolton game was some bloke giving Chuks abuse because of his wage… and calling him a waste of space (was very quiet after the first goal). Bizzare behaviour and kept calling leaburn a fridge freezer. Honestly who travels all that way to abuse our own players…..

Well, speaking as someone who has arthritis in their hands and fingers, that additional scrolling quickly goes from just tedious to actively painful, which is why I've gone back and edited out the list from the posts that quote it. It's bad enough that people thoughtlessly include 250 lines of quoted text for a couple of lines of reply, but to do it deliberately for a shit one liner when you had specifically been asked not to, makes you look like an inconsiderate arse. Don't do it again.
Would be poetic if he delivered a series of ten min cameos from now until the end of the season, chipping in with the odd goal to get us promoted via the play offs and then retires.
Would be fantastic for him and the club. Here’s hoping.

Would be poetic if the only goal he scores from now till the end of his contract is the winning goal in the play off final.
Maybe there's another definition of "poetic" that isn't in any dictionary, but I think it would be "poetic" if he plays every minute of every game between now and the end of the season and smashes in 25 goals to fire us to automatic promotion.

Ok maybe it is time we unearth this thread.
