Not a match goer, I survive vicariously off of the kind graces of you doughty CL'ers who still go and watch our shower live and rave about Dobson.
However is there any mileage in the opinion that George was a shining diamond of hope in a team of endemic losers and League Two's got talent audtionees?
We have recruited well so far, and given a fair wind I reckon Dobbo will soon be a distant bollock pang, until of course he scores a wonder goal from the halfway line at the Valley for Wrexham.

I think that it's fair to say overall that Doherty replacing Dobson is much more welcome than Godden replacing May, and more likely to be successful too.
If Dobson really is definitely gone for good it's still a shame as he genuinely was a good player and left in pretty rotten and probably avoidable circumstances... but this signing goes a long way to softening the blow I feel.
This feels like one of those signings we’d have been linked with in the past but fail to get over the line, knowing we likely aimed too high as we wouldn’t pay the wages.
Over 30 starts and 7 goals for Shrewsbury in L1 18/19, started almost every game when Hull won the league two years later.
Hull then improved in the Championship three seasons in a row, each year his appearances dropped off showing Hull’s progress, but he stayed there for those three seasons showing he was capable of playing at that level.
Will turn 28 next season so hopefully we’ll see him at the peak of his career.
On paper a far better signing than L2 players who by their mid 20s were never realistically going to step up to the Championship as we saw under Sandgaard a few years ago.
I'm fairly surprised we have signed him, always looked good when I've seen him play and was part of Hulls side last season. Had a touch of the Kinsellas about him

Not quite grasping this idea of a player replacing a player and trying to make a direct individual comparison. It seems pretty clear to me that the player recruitment has been specifically designed to build the system and style of play Nathan Jones plans to put in place. It's about the team performance as a whole and the players that have the attributes to achieve collectively. We hope.
Possible that this was lined up and on hold while we saw whether Dobbo would come back or not and when apparent that he was not we signed Docherty
Nice of Greg to hang around for us ……
Dobson is a year younger and has not played at such a high level, a neutral would take Greg over George one hundred times out of a hundred.
As we are not neutrals: Let's hope that Greg Doherty can play 90+ minutes every week and is available for selection every match and can also be a contender for POTY. Also that he will be in a far superior Charlton side to George.
This does look like another good signing and I hope Greg can not only emulate George but surpass him. I wish Doherty a successful time at CAFC and many like me will thank Dobson but have to accept the status quo.
I think the squad is now starting to look as if it can challenge, another centre back, although I'm am not writing off Jones, Gillesphey or Edmonds-Green, but someone who dominates in the back four plus another goal keeper and I'll be happy. On the question of Conor Coventry, I expect him to push on with the players around him and I don't think he was suited to the role alongside Dobson, this on the face of it looks better balanced. If Nathan Jones can stop us conceding daft goals then this squad can really take off, it is looking like it has potential.

It’s still light in midfield , jury out on goalkeeping and goal scoring

I’m not precious about being “lolled” but I don’t see how that’s contestable .
Really happy to have signed for a club like @CAFCofficial and also to be joining such an exciting project.
Thank you to everyone for all of the nice messages I have received I can’t wait to walk out at The Valley and give my all for this historic football club!
...Didn't realise it was Greg who was lifting the League One trophy for Hull City at The Valley, that apparently we were gonna win the following year, if only eh...🙄

Are you positive enough to have a bet on us getting promoted this year mate ? I’m in a hole after going pretty big the last 2 years after believing the bollox spouted by TS 😂 so I need to go bigger this year to recoup 😜

19 League starts in 2 seasons. A bit on the low side, so we've done well to get him in for a full preseason.
We hope.

I've not actually physically seen the fella yet, let alone in a retro shirt.
Weird 🧐
really strong spine there now

Whatever next...Ronnie getting something right?
"Boo, get off!"
"Bring back Dobbo!"
"Not fit to wear the shirt!" etc, etc, ad infinitum!
