think he is worth a punt myself
  • People wrote him off when he first went to Sheff Utd, he ended up scoring 30 odd goals in 60 games then his goals helped save Stoke from relegation.

I ask because they're surely the main competition?

On paper, good signing for Sheff Utd.

For financial reasons they've been forced to cash in on their best 2 strikers on deadline day.
So, like us signing Jason Euell, they've picked up an old head and someone experienced at playing international and top level football.

If he can still run, has the right character and attitude, could be a fantastic signing for them.

But there's the rub as old Billy Shakes would say.

I thought Sheff Utd were pretty much skint and can see Beattie asking for quite a big wage.

He'd be a decent signing though and will score goals if he can be bothered.

I am never surprised when 'skint' clubs come up with loads of money to purchase and finance new players. Southampton and Cardiff had this down to a fine art over the past couple of seasons. Sheffield United skint? .. in accountancy terms probably, in reality, probably not

They had to act after selling two and then the deals to bring in Fleck and Hutton went belly up. From what I hear he moves like a tanker of late but he could do a job for them.
  • Beattie was terrible at Rangers last season, but looked quite good for Blackpool (but who doesn't?) so I'm not worrying too much about this signing.

I believe they've been bought by a Thai who has links to Sir Alex and they're getting Bryan Robbo in as manager.

You would think he will turn out to be a good signing but there will be many questions over his fitness and his desire. Especially after failing to impres in the SPL where the standard is probably similar to League 1.

  • and they lost henderson to scumwall

Would be a good extra option for them if he is up for it.

Although i am hoping he just sticks to being a fat bloater and a waste.

after the TV exposure Bryan R will be lucky to get a job managing a greasy spoon in Rangoon. Anyway, Wilson is doing a job with the Blades. I'm going to see them at Scunthorpe tomorrow, looking forward to seeing our main rivals (as I see it)
