Buying an XBox question

I want to buy an Xbox this weekend but am really clueless when it comes to things like this.
Had an old 360 but want to know what I should get ie is there a newer model and what sort of price should I look to pay for it so they don't see me coming.
Thinking of getting it in Game which I dont know if is priced averagely or whether it is much cheaper elsewhere? Also can you play old XBox 360 games on the newest versions?
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

You can get a 250gb new console for about £200 online
As an example with Fifa bundled in:

As for games best prices are normally on shopto which are normally the cheapest plus do free next day delivery great site.

buy the older 60 GB one as its significantly cheaper and I've got the 120GB (elite) and the memory is no were near full up. But if do plan to play alot of different games on it and take up memory buy the older elite like I've got as it does a good job.0

The price of the elite console has dropped in price to around the 170/180 mark (PS3 has also dropped in price) so you may as well get that model. Has built in wi-fi and is the quietest (and prettiest of all the models).
That's a fairly decent deal, you get bonus 11 quid of credit if you trade in Deus Ex/Driver so you're essentially gettng any game of your choice plus the console for 179.99. There's gonna be a ton of games coming out in the next couple months. (GOW 3, Forza 4, MW5, BF3, Arkham City, Skyrium to name a few)

PS3 pops up on the ebay weekly deals quite a lot lately. They were £199 last week for 320 gig0

Morrisons had a 120gb PS3 for £169.99 over the bank holiday weekend. Knew I should have got one then.0

Get the one with the red ring!0

XBOX and PS3 are very similar I have both and I'd say you're best going with the cheaper option!0

Also, playing online is free with the PS3. Something you may want to consider0

As someone whose wasted untold hours trying to fix our kid's red ring problem I can honestly say that The Red Robin's reply is the best one you'll get. Get a PS3.0

Defo. You wont really ever need 100+ gb on a console unless you use it for ALOT of things but its better to buy consoles brand new for reliability. Wouldnt trust a 2nd hand one.Ive got the 120gb Elite old model, had it two years barely used 20gb i doubt. Only place fifa and cod, PC for everything else.0
