With Southampton doing wonders in the league above I thought to myself...

If we were to get promoted how do you think our current squad would fare in the Championship?

    i'd say mid table finish with what we have currently got, but we have seen that CP can make some quality signings and if he can work his magic on the bigger players i could see us breaking into the playoffs

    Think we don't really know how far the players can go - Chrissy will though by the end of the season and he'll know what has to be done. We need to look at this league and not too far ahead but I can't help having an optimistic feeling.

    If the team grinds out wins when they need to, always looks like using any chances we create and remain solid at the back, theres no reason we cant do back to back like delias lot.
    A good footballing team at this level can more than compete in the championship.

    Saying that, next year if we go up, id be happy to at least not come back down to this league

    with a couple more astute signings no reason why we couldn't make the play offs. If we didn't go up then we'd do it the following season.

    I think we'd be competitive. We're hardly even into the season, have a lot of new players, and judging from Powell's comments they've still got a long way to go. Which considering our start so far is a very promising idea.

    Few new signings, more gelled team... Who knows?

    When you go through the squad, there are only a few who have likely reached their peak potential. Not only are the majority likely to improve as individuals, but the team also should only improve as they gain confidence and play more games together. Don't want to get ahead of myself after what we've been through, but if we go up I won't be worried about our ability to stay up.

    Sorry, but you have to change that headline ! When we get promotion is what you mean I think, it's called positive mental attitude and I bet that our Board has got it in spades !

    As said it's 11 games in.

    If we go up then yes, we have a mainly young squad that we should be able to hang onto plus the financial stability to strengthen but just because Soton are doing well doesn't mean that every promoted club will do the same.

    Brighton are slipping after a good start, Millwall next to bottom, Leeds midtable with Peterboro.   Lots of strong teams in the Prem and the relegated sides have a huge financial advantage.

    Honestly I don't think we'd do as well as some think, with the quality in the championship at the moment I think we'd be lucky to finish top 12.

    Think with the current team we'd be mid table but cant see us not making a few decent signings and  pushing up a bit.  Playoffs 2014

    current team would be bottom half...we still have plenty of league 1 players (not surprisingly as we are stil in League 1).  If we go up we would strengthen again no doubt but its still early days and only 11 games in.

    This. If we do get promoted, it is imperative we do not get relegated. Anything more would be a bonus. Slow and steady progression suits me fine.

    As stated we are only 11 games in, but lets be honest we are looking good to get out of this league it is really already in our own hands. 

    That said, from what I have seen of this team they will more than hold there own against the majority (resent ex prem teams aside perhaps) in the next league up.  And this is a very young team that will only keep improving as time goes on.  And lets be honest we all know that and like me I am sure we are all waiting to see when it happens.

    Difficult to say. I think we'd be mid/ bottom half if we didn't make any signings but i would expect us to recruit again witha view to challenging again. The prize is the premiership and i can't see the new regime being content just to fend off relegation. Everything feels right about the club at the moment and i think they'll do whats required and the good thing is, they seem to not only want to do that, but they also seem to know what is required to make it happen.

    Too early to even think about. The only question is is this team good enough to get us up. The answer looks promising but we are not even a quarter in yet.

    There arent many times in the last 15 years we have done better in the second half than the first. Lets keep our feet on the ground and enjoy the wins we are currently getting

    Top half of the bottom half imho. Players brought in with a view to them performing at championship level. Some will some won't so more signings will be needed to push on again. If we got up I would be happy for a season of consolidation before giving it the gun again.

    WHEN we get promoted .. the Norwich model would be ideal. Bring in a few new top quality 'lower league' players, though the current CAFC 1st team squad looks stronger and has more potential that the Canaries side which went from Div 1 to Champ, keep the manager (the man I thought should have been sacked last March) happy and well funded,  the crowd and fans need to not count chickens and to get and stay behind the team as the team needs to be buoyed with the all important confidence,  get shot of any players deemed just not good enough for a higher division - something which Messrs Adkins and Lambert have carried out quite ruthlessly -  and of course don't sell the best players UNLESS the management team has an equally talented or better player lined up as a replacement. Momentum is all important. Clubs like Southampton, Leicester, Derby and Cardiff have gained or maintained it , whereas Millwall, Notts Forest and Leeds (to a certain extent ) have lost it.

    How would we fare? ... if the Norwich recipe is followed it could well be  ......  Premiership here we come  ............

    I think we've done the 'Norwich model' this season actually.

    We have a team of some of the best League One players from last season. The likes of Hollands, Stephens, Wiggins, Green and Taylor (maybe add BWP to that list from Janaury) were all brilliant last season for their clubs. We've also added some under-rated players who weren't being used properly at their last club, the likes of Morrison and Hayes.

    It's a very good balance and a really good way of doing things imo. If we were to go up, next season we could sign a few of League One's best players plus a few lads who aren't being used properly at their Championship club (or maybe even a Premiership club).

    A lot of this comes down to good scouting, which we haven't had enough of in recent years, poor old Phil Chapple must have had sore feet racing up and down those motorways.

    we were probably too skint to afford a car and petrol so trainers had to do !!
