Stevenage vs. Charlton | 15 October 2011 | Match Preview, Teams, Predictions, News
With upwards of 1500 Addicks making the trip, the atmosphere is likely to be excellent in the small ground, and with that comes a certain degree of pressure. The starting XI is unlikely to change in Preview Tower's opinion, and although the changes to a winning team by Powell last time out did not cover themselves in glory, dropping players on the basis of one bad performance sets a dangerous precedent and possible unrest.
The back five will continue being as solid as ever and will hope to have a quiet afternoon, with the emphasis for creation and penetration squarely on the likes of Danny Green and Dale Stephens with Hollands orchestrating the transition from defence to attack. Johnnie Jackson will just run down the wing for me. Yann and BWP up top did not set the world alight against Tranmere and we seemed to be missing some of Paul Hayes' under-valued linked up play, yet the Frenchman will get the chance to win more headers hoping that his strike partner increases the understanding.
Expect another difficult away trip but one that we will relish and run out 3-0 winners.
Come on you reds!

Taking my 5 year old to see his first away game (only cos I can't justify disappearing on my own on a saturday) so hoping he'll see some goals for us
Last weeks non performance can hopefully be dismissed with an emphatic win but I've gone all negative and fear the automatic certs aren't so automatic and I'm gonna predict a nervey 1-1
A boisterous rare proper sized away following will be glad to have ticked off this new ground but not with the result
One aim

Surely a wind up? Unless BWP is injured and I don't know about it0 -
Another horrible, snidey side but one of the Centre halves will nod one in. One nil to the Londoners.0
-
I'd bring back Hayes in, will encourage to hopefully play it on the floor more. Kermy has shown he can make an impact as a sub.
Green/Waggy I'd toss a coin, Waggy will be better defensivley but Green has quality (although we haven't seen much of it yet)

Expect spoiling tactics and some tough tackling and under no circumstances underestimate Stevenage. If we go into the game totally prepared for the way they play then i can see us coming out on top.If we go into thinking we are going to stroll it , then Saturday could be our first defeat of the season.I'm going for a 1-1 draw.0

I think this is the game we will come unstuck, 2-1 defeat.0

For some reason i'm a lot more cautious with Charlton this season, and the pessimist in me is saying Dagenham last season.
However, the facts show this a much stronger group this season, the attitude is improved and results so far have been positive at smaller, testing grounds like Bury and Rochdale.
We should win this and i think we will, though i have a feeling it won't be pretty.

Got a feeling this could be a nasty niggley one, they are a snidey dirty side, to finish 1-1 and 10 men each!!0

Nervously optimistic, although I'd like to see Hayes back in. He has a dodgy first touch and has missed a few sitters, but he's always involved and strikes me as one of those unsung heroes who is appreciated more by his teamates than by supporters. Reckon BWP would prefer Hayes alongside him.

Unfortunately I can't make it. Anyone know if we will be on any radio stations? Or am I doomed to watch it all unfold on soccer Saturday.
check on bbc radio london sport and they will have all the ways you can listen to matches with them... DAB, on-line, FM ect. ect...0 -
Another tricky game....which ones arnt now?....everyone seems to shut up shop and look to hit us on the break by flooding midfield...everyone is looking to be the first in the league to beat us......however we seem to play with more conviction away from home so I'm going for a simple 0-1 addicks with BWP scoring.
For those not going to/or cant hear the game ....match thread on here as usual from about 2 pm.

Agree in principle. But I'd put it another way. Powell needs to bring back Waggy and Hayes because he made a mistake in dropping them and I think he will be big enough to acknowledge the mistake.
Charlton to win 2-0 , Hayes and Waggy to score ... (although if Green and Kermit get the goals instead, you won't hear too many complaints from old Incorruptible!)

Whenever I try to access local radio stations via the web using the BBC site I always get that messsage saying: "thank you for choosing to listen to BBC local radio on the web. Unfortunately due to contractual obligations, F*** off" or words to that effect.Unfortunately I can't make it. Anyone know if we will be on any radio stations? Or am I doomed to watch it all unfold on soccer Saturday.

Well this is a first.
We have never played Stevenage in any competitive match as far i can find out and i am a little bit iffy but almost sure we have never played them in pre season friendly.
So history is to be made on Saturday. Charlton will justify the club emblem and to put these upstarts to the sword.
Two - Nil to the addicks
