The most remarkable thing about this illusion is nothing to do with the after-image effect, it is to do with social brain-washing: The fact that so many people think they see Jesus when in fact it could be an image of any long haired man. Why not Kurt Cobain, Russell Brand or King Sigebert III of Austrasia? Our perceptions are directly guided by the stories and myths we are told and by the previous images we've been shown. And when they are in our head, it's a monster of a job to get rid of them.Most people when looking at the image below will see Che Guevara, but I'd like to think that one or two people here might see someone else.
