Valley Floyd Road... A Thing of The Past?!

I don't know if it's just me or if any others have noticed (apologese if this topic has already arisen), but it appears that the once common choruses of "Valley Floyd Road" have dissapeared from the covered end.  This is no criticism in any way as I'm a 24 year old prawn sandwich eater in the upper west, but I was purely just curious as to why this might be the case?  Anyone know something I don't?

YOUR ALSO SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T GO OR IS DEAF ITS SUNG ALL THE TIME YOU PLANK
  • It might seem quiet to the East and West as they never join in, but in the North Upper it still rings out each week.

im living other side of the world now but was in for the carlisle match and was sung on a good 5 or so occasions.  just maybe not loud enough these days to be heard in the west.  seems like only the high upper of the north sings it these days.  i was mid upper and the only one singing it around me.

  • I sit in block C of the east which is nearer the away end and I sing all the chants my self every week and can still hear Valley Floyd Road crystal clear when it is sung.

We need to get all the stands singing, I look at the East and West from the Upper North and it seems that they don't even join in with any clapping let alone singing!

  • Having been a season ticket holder in the North Stand it does seem loud when your in the middle of it and its being sung , when you are in other stands it doesn't have the same resonance (my word for the day).

Woah, calm down, like I said, it wasn't a criticism. I just haven't heard it as prodominantly as usual and was just curious as to why. Sounds like I need my ears testing by the comments.

Oh, and just for your information NSS, I'm a season ticket holder before you start judging.

    Thanks for the feedback guys.

Are the microphones that hang down from the north upper roof purely for the tv broadcasts to pick up on? Remember in the early 80's when the team used to run out we had speakers playing clapping and cheering noise. A bit like the equivalent of wearing a strap on.The drum is probably on par with Viagra but much needed in the floppy world of all seater stadia.

I'm West Upper too and it has been as loud as normal (and we always sing along - from the beginning NOT just the chorus - and CatJnr even.... wait for it....stands up sometimes, in row B I'll have you know, to join in with other popular chants - but he is only 10..)

But....I agree with Domo that the FREQUENCY of it's singing seems to be less this season

speaker in the west uppers on the blink - either that or they've moved it to the away end so our abuse can be heard a bit better. No point accusing people of incest if they can't hear it.

I heard my girlfriend singing it in the shower the other day at full volume ha ha. She's only been 4-5 times but already has been converted from her hometown of Leeds!

My eldest has set up a makeshift drum out of shoe boxes and when he scores against me when playing fifa on the x box i have to wait for him to run through his repetoire of post goal drum songs. He's been chosen to play the drums in a samba project they're doing in music class at school and his ambition when he leaves school is to be the north stand drummer. Not sure what he's like on a set of bagpipes.
  • I think success has gone to our heads, it's now like Old Trafford. The crowd expects and we don't start singing until the team does something special!!!

Parts of the East join in occasionally. EVERYONE should join in. It is what going to a footie match is all about...It's mainly north and the rest of the ground sit there twiddling there thumbs.
