I've been wondering this myself. I know Powell was keen on extending it but not heard anything confirming this.

Powell said last week that thye were keen to renew but had not spoken to West ham yet. i wonder if that was wise, as I think West Ham have been paying his wages and maybe we should have been more reluctant to renew so it was them pushing for it and we retain the no payment aspect. .. conspiracy conspiracy

It's probably something Powelly has in mind to do first thing Monday morning.

    Perhaps.
  • In an interview last week on CAFC player Powell said he would like to keep him for the season.

    Thought he was big today.

    Had a topsy-turvey week.
    Came on at short notice.
Was straight away targetted as a weak link by Posh.
Stood his ground and was up to the challenge.

    Well Done Matt Fry

It is great to have Matt Fry back for the rest of the season. He is a real asset to the team and a good back up at left back. He did well when he came on against Colchester and help keep the ship steady. He stood up to the challenge well under pressure from Peterborough.

Matt Fry will make an excellent centre back in the future. I would be happy to see him play there now. It is good for him as a future centre back to learn and understand the role of a left back and will benefit his game. He has just enough pace for the role. With Johnnie Jackson supporting, he should be OK.

We do need a specialist left back though. Bessone does need some coaching to improve his positional discipline and that he is fit enough for the job.

I saw in an interview that he was really enjoying his time at Charlton, but didn't have a song yet. Now that he has signed up for the rest of the season, the North Upper can give a few Matty Fry shouts ? Not quite sure about a dedicated song, maybe he needs to be permanet for that?

Always good to see him on the pitch. Well done, Matt Fry yesterday.

    Sorry vff

Chris Powell would like to keep him for the rest of the season but he is still on a short loan and can be recalled

He did well when he came on (better than Bessone IMO who I thought was below average, maybe he was still feeling his injured hamstring).

Coming tonight according to Twitter , could do worse than signing him if fit again but as a left footed CB not Left Back.

Off to the Valley this eve. 1st experience of the North Stand Upper

    Isn't it the Cupboard end?
  • We're hoping to speak to him before the game for Charlton Live. If anyone wants to ask him a question, throw it up on here.

    Nobody wanted to.....?
  • Not a single sausage. Had to hand the honours over to Mr. Finch anyway, traffic held Matt up (as it did many) and I had to hitail it to the gantry

Love it when these five year old threads are dug up.

Always seemed decent if unspectacular. Not overly surprised he's dropped down. The lack of surname-based puns on here is embarrassing.

He was a good servant to the club. He certainly doesn't deserve to have his surname panned.

Bizarre how he's dropped so far down the divisions, it's not as if he was a fish out of water when he played for us

Saw him turn out for Dartford in Conference against Woking couple of seasons back and he looked way out of his depth, indeed he moved on after a dozen or so appearances.

You should try the Simon Francis thread!

Now he's playing in the premier league, and we're heading back to the third division, life is a cruel mistress.

I know Matt personally and Keith Peacock wanted him to sign but we wouldn't pay the fee or his wages from West Ham at the time.
He is being touted to go to Peterborough for next season so we may well see him again ...
