May have posted this elsewhere, but I saw Shaun Bartlett at Victoria station once. Went over and told him I was a Charlton fan. He cracked up laughing. Not quite the reaction I was expecting.
wasnt it that you just casually struck up conversation with a person that you thought was a stranger and said in passing you were a charlton fan, not realising you were talking to Shaun Bartlett?

    Context is everything :)

Saw Claus Jensen in The Bull at Chislehurst when he was with us. He was drinking a pint of lager and smoking, in the pub. That shows how long ago it was!

My youngest son is in the same class as Keith Peacock's grandaughter and have seen him at parties when I've picked my lad up. A true gentleman. No other word to describe him.

Saw Stephens in the glades bromley with his missus a few days after the draw with wednesday. Half thought about commenting on his miss and good form but by the time my brain got into gear they'd walked off!
  • Met Bobby Hunt selling strawberries in Tiptree one pre season. We are going back a few years!
Martin Robinson on the tube, had a good chat. He was working as a chef in London. Also Steve Jones and Martin Pringle in Bluewater.

My cousin has been dating Les Reed's son recently aswell
  • I'm sure I've said this elsewhere on CL but my mate had his 21st birthday party in the Hyatt Hotel on Broad Street in Birmingham City Centre the night before we were playing away at villa in 2006 under Dowie. The whole squad were staying there, eating their dinner in the lobby restaurant when I arrived. Had my photo taken with Bent, and then later on in the evening, Dowie and all his staff inc Reed and Robbo were drinking red wine in the bar...

also Jason Euell was at a sunday football game i was playing at in Croydon once in about 2001 soon after he'd joined us.

On the topic of celebrity spots, met Marlon Devonish in some poncy bar in Mayfair last weekend, all suited up pouring champagne

My brother used to go to school with Keith Peacock, and would always beat him over 400 yards on sports day.  Used to p*** Peacock right off!

  • Stuart Balmer queueing in Welling Blockbuster to hire what must surely have been a VHS.

Andy Jones and Johnny H in the now defunct deja vue in Swanley. H was ahead of me in the queue for the gents and shouted " is this a sponsored piss?"

John Salako in Thorins in Tunbridge Wells drinking with a couple of older guys (agents?).

Colin Walsh in the Standard in Belvedere Village.

My mate saw Scott Parker and Mark Bright at Yorkshire Grey McDonalds. He said that up close Brighty resembled a tortoise.

I remember driving to work for a night shift and waiting for the lights to change in catford and a car pulls up next to me and to my surprise it was John Robinson asking me for directions to Brighton.

My sister was in Keith's son's class. His ball skills weren't half as good as his dads. He kicked the ball right into the middle of her birthday cake. My sister was in tears. Gavin is his name, i think. She was only 8! So was he, lol.

Years ago, the team always travelled to long distance away games by train..... often got the chance to chat with many of the players during the journey back.

Coming back from Plymouth in 1973 I think (lost 5-0 ! ......Ritchie Bowman made his debut) one of the directors (can't remember who it was now) gave me a lift back from Paddington to Falconwood in his Volvo sports car.

Nice gesture from a director to a grateful teenaged supporter.

Next time you see them suggest that they run on the pavement, it's safer.

Alan Pardew at Hever Castle last year. Just wandering through the grounds, he walks past the other way. I turn to the wife and say "That was Alan Pardew" and she, predictably, says "Who?".
