Christopher Hitchens passed away this morning following a long battle against cancer.
Brilliant man, expect some might think differently, but a sad loss particularly in the field of American politics...RIP.

    As an atheist myself I will remember him with appreciation for his works.

    Fantastic journalist - a bit up his own arse, but never anything less than thoroughly entertaining. Asked some very, very difficult questions at times - and had an uncanny ability to cut through bullshit. Kind of killed himself with the fags, so difficult to feel that sorry for him.

    Yep, that's pretty much my view.

    Does he or atheists in general expect to RIP? If so where and with whom?

     

    As an atheist myself I will remember him with appreciation for his works.

    As an Atheist my dad told me to read RIP as Return If Possible : - )

    Considering he had suffered great pain for over a year through cancer, I as an atheist would like to believe he is now 'at peace'.

    Hated by many for his intelligence and logic which dismantled their cherished ideological (often fashionable) positions they had often carefully memorised from the usual sources....a great loss.

    I'm sort of pleased that this bit worked out OK for him. I will very much miss his fierce and challenging intellect.

    Remarkable how two brothers could be so different (though similar when younger) yet equally brilliant in their individual fashions.

    I understand that the brothers were estranged for some years but reconciled eventually which is good.

    I didn't know too much about him but anybody who argues on the side of Atheism is all right by me.
