Fair play to him, he looked absolutely brilliant (TV highlights) vs Sheff Wed.  But ironically this may turn out to be an early Christmas present for us (and indeed Wednesday).  That 4-for will surely get the Prem teams queueing up (if they weren't already), and though Hudd fans might appeal to him by saying "join Blackburn or Bolton and you'll be in the Championship next season anyway", it wouldn't suprise me now if a bigger team - Villa, Everton, even Newcastle - took a punt on him.  All this despite being completely snuffed out by Morrison & Taylor.

Meanwhile, BWP has obviously been told to slow down a bit in case the same thing happens - smart move by Chrissy...

Read the match report in The Sunday Times yesterday...

    ...ready for the conspiracy theory...

...Rhodes' dad is the goal-keeping coach at the Wendys!!!  ;-)

Rhodes has real quality and should be operating higher than the third division.

Do you think there's any chance Fulham will appoint Ian Wright as their goalkeeping coach, ahead of our cup match?

He's looked good when given the oppertunity at international and under 21 level as well.

His 4th goal on Saturday was premier league quality

Shows what a sh*t manager Keane is as well. Scored goals all through the youth levels and at every club he went to on loan and he never really gave him a chance at Ipswich.

Seeing as he scored 4 vs the Wendy's, and none against us, does that mean we are 4x better than Wednesday? ;)

    We are MASSIVE!!
  • Megson didn't ask his dad how to stop him scoring, as it would have been unprofessional, silly git.

  • would be amazed if a prem team didnt come in for him over the jan window, sunderland bolton fulham everton all need a striker,
  • 1 point from a possible 9 suggests Huddersfield are dropping away anyway, I dont think it matters where Rhodes is playing after January because the pressure is coming from Sheff Wed, MK Dons and Sheff Utd.

gutted he's streaked away from BWP. My bet is looking shakey now even though I have the EW at 1/4 the odds down to 4th top scorer.

Yeah and Kim Jong il once got 11 holes in one.

doubt Everton would go in for him, after Beckford the other year.

Doubt they can afford him! They've got less money than Huddersfield.

I  heard from a Hibs fan that Moyes & Rhodes's dad we team mates together............small connection I know but these things happen.

How much do you reckon he'd cost. I reckon somewhere between £3-4m would get him, not a massive outlay for a team in the Prem for a lad that's scored consistently (albiet at a lower level) for some time now.

Wouldn't be surprised if someone like Southampton got him. The outlay would be far outweighed by what money they'd receive if they went up.

One of my lads (who was at the Huddersfield game) asked if he played against us as he didn't remember him. Just shows what a job we done on him I guess?
  • He is  a bit of a flat track bully at the moment and scoring his goals in clusters - despite being the Division's top scorer with 17 I believe they all came in just 8 matches and that he has actually failed to score in 10 League games. By contrast, BWP's 14 goals have come in 11 matches and he has failed to score in 9.

One thing is for certain and that is that all the Ipswich fans I know are far from happy that Roy Keane let him go at such a young age and for so little.

True, especially if Pardew goes for Lambert in January. Although I could see Newcastle themselves going for him as a partner for Ba.

In an interview Megson was asked would he approach Rhodes' Dad about how to defend against his son.

Megson said that would be unprofessional and didn't.

He might be regretting that now.

What he said in answering a question and what he actually did may be two different things.

Good point, though Sheff Wed away is hardly a flat track

Morison and Holt are doing ok at Norwich so Rhodes could be a hit in a higher division, but something tells me that he wouldn't be.. le Fondre is not scoring too many goals at Reading but his all round play has been a revelation .. more prolific 3rd division strikers fail in a higher division than make it .. in the premier division .. how many English strikers are there nowadays ? .. not many

    Beckford couldn't do it.
  • Megson should've gave Powell a ring he could have shared the simple info of stop the ball going to Rhodes

That's all we did , Rhodes ain't a Gaza he is a very good goal score but if you watch th goals 2 were shite defending at a corner and the other 2 came from balls that travelled 20 yds , poor midfield play and to be honest the defenders seemed flat footed on their part, that's the reason we will beat Sheffield weds when we play them , they can't defend movement from midfield
