Rafa Benitez has told Scott Carson he'll be back at Liverpool next season and has challenged the young stopper to oust current number one Pepe Reina.
Carson, who has just set a new record for England Under-21 caps, spent last season on loan at Charlton, where he was voted player of the year.

Benitez said: "I was speaking to Scott recently and I told him he will be part of our first-team squad next season.

"He must fight with Pepe Reina now for a starting place. We knew when we fought off Chelsea to sign him he was a talented goalkeeper.

"He got some good experience last season and now he is coming back to us."

Our only chance is if he doesn't oust Reina and we come up next season then buy or loan him again in the Prem. He sadly won't be our keeper next season.

I'd like to see Randolph given the No.1 shirt

despite Liverpools statement it's still possible that scott will leave as he has said he doesn't want to warm the bench. however i don't think we stand any chance of signing him whatever happens.
