Charlton have to start making decisions on seating arrangements, i was near the front and expected to sit due to this but when there are supporters who want to stand and sing like their counterparts at the back then i don't blame them as they are there for the atmospheric experience as well.
i like to stand and felt sorry for the young lad behind who couldn't see a thing, but myself sitting down mean't i wouldn't be able to see a thing due to the low steep of the stand, meaning a guy even standing three rows ahead can block half of the pitch.

I could not sit all game due to knee problems, just got up and went over to P7 and sat down there, no problem.

I didn't go because I anticipated the problems and realise that I am not the sort of fan who is "welcome" to attend away matches.If so then you are part of the problem. Off-it has a point, once some decide to stand what can others do, today there was no point in shouting sit down as no one would have listened. I also have to agree that the atmosphere was great for the majority, I don't know what to do about it and that's why I raised the point on CL in, what I admit, was a sarcastic heading. I would not suggest that the stewards should intervene as I spend a lot of away games trying to stop them, by vocal persuasion, from getting heavy with our younger fans.
So to wrap this up, I just wish some would have more consideration for their fellow fans but understand that at certain times, like today, the mob rules which precludes others from acting considerately, maybe I should have realised beforehand that this was going to occur and take evading action.0 -

Completely understand what you're saying mate. My objection was really based on the fact that you seemed to be slagging everyone off (a mantle that Len now appears to have taken up in bizarre fashion), when in reality most of us just had no choice. It's not "right", but there was nothing that most of us could've done about it.
So to wrap this up, I just wish some would have more consideration for their fellow fans but understand that at certain times, like today, the mob rules which precludes others from acting considerately, maybe I should have realised beforehand that this was going to occur and take evading action.I hope your pain has eased and that you don't feel any knock-on effects tomorrow.0 -

Everybody standing made it a fantastic atmosphere.
Everybody shouting and chanting made the atmosphere. Having to stand made it tiring and uncomfortable, even for this relatively fit 'old git'.
As mentioned earlier, in the days of terraces, there were crursh barriers to lean on.

I have every sympathy with LL. I have a collapsed vertebrae that means I cannot stand for prolonged periods. It was a very painful afternoon for me also. The same thing happened at Orient and I had to end up getting into a confrontational situation with a fellow fan in order to get some relief.
Something needs to to done about it. I can fully understand why fans want to stand and if my back was OK I wouldn't mind standing up as well!

I agree, but we all know the atmosphere would've been worse had we not been standing. Imagine bouncing in our seats. Its often through standing and being active, that we can make noise like we did today.Everybody standing made it a fantastic atmosphere.

Len, you are mixing up a whole load of unrelated issues here.
If you stick to the point of those who want or need to sit there might be a chance that a compromise can be found with some kind of informal agreement either with the club or fellow supporters for away games that sell out.

For big games most away fans stand the whole match. Obviously it's not good for everyone but I'm afraid that's the way it is.I think they should have some sort of system when getting tickets that if you have a problem try sit around the front row.0

I was in LL P1, not asked to sit once but would have if it made the game more enjoyable for others.On a side note, did anyone with restricted views feel restricted ? My view was perfect for 90 mins, which is more than the Fulham boxes looked0

Read my post!The Lisbie thread was a different one subsequently, I believe, deleted by AFKA.I'm not going to count every post on the linked thread but the majority are in favour of standing and disparaging to those who don't want to stand eg those expressing anxiety that their 8 year old might not see the match.Anyway LL has subsequently come back and you've acknowledged as much so I'll butt out now.0 -

Lancs sorry to hear your in pain, my legs are killing me and I'm probably a bit younger .The atmosphere was great though a throwback to the old days, and we didn't have a drum, cowbell or trumpet, I wish every game had that kind of atmosphere, it reminded me of going to Old Trafford in the cup.0

Unfortunatly, most away games your going to go to you will have problems with the standing issue because you mostly north stand fans who attend these games. Although, standing should not be an issue if you dont get a sellout because you can sit anywhere.
