  • Marshall having a bad game today gives me a sneaky feeling we are going to sign him, makes sense to me, he would hardly have a stormer against the team he is joining. I could be wrong but watch this space.

I view it another way. If he was joining us which I very much doubt I don't think he would have played at all. He will be accused of not trying or worse.

I didn't think the Liera song was called for. For the most part he was good for us and he didn't deserve that song today.
Really? Apart from the Swindon home game he was imo pony. Personally I think he's awful.

Leave off, it's was funny, inoffensive, wasn't racist, no swearing. What was the problem?

Agree with this and I think Llera showed his agreement by obliging on three or four seperate occasions in time he was on the pitch !

No. He wasn't. By no stretch of anyone's imagination could he ever have been considered 'good' for us in 'the most part'. In fact, in 'the most part' he veered between being poor and absolutely, unspeakably atrocious. He had about five games where he could have been considered 'good'.

I think your dictionary's definitions of 'good' and 'honest' must be mixed up.

I agree with you, but in some ways i also agree with Leory - he was never that good for us, but he was a (cliche alert) 'honest pro' who worked his socks off, and for that I don't think he deserved the song. I would sing that song at players who've left us in less savoury circumstances in a heartbeat, but i don't consider Lllera to be one of them.

Llera was abysmal for us. "Honest pro" he might've been but he was an absolute calamity on the whole and regardless anyway, we're playing our rivals at the top of the league who he now plays for, why should we be worrying about hurting the poor little mite's feelings, we should be getting on his back and trying to make him nervous and put him off, not feeling sorry for him.

The Llera song was fine (although I'm sure a swear word figures in there) sometimes I wonder if some of our fans would rather be at the proms than a football match.
  • Although Llera was never convincing for us and prone to some dreadful lapses I for one could never bring myself to not like the man. Honest pro who did have skill and never shirked. I wouldn't have joined in the song.

Not a swear word in there at all which is the reason why practically everyone joined in. A tad harsh maybe because I thought Llera gave his all when with us but it was spontaneous and very funny and a couple of sliced clearances gave it even more credence.

If anyone had seen him at "that" game at Colchester, you wouldn't just be singing a song at him!!

It's not Llera's fault he's useless. One of the worst centre halves we've ever had, but you couldn't fault his attitude.

Met him a few times, really nice guy but still useless!

I accept Llera could be a liability against pace and due to positioning but he did have some qualities and gave his all. I'll always clap him for that - We have moved forwards but he doesn't deserve what some gave him because we are now beyond his level - If I remember rightly he wanted to stay - absolutely uncalled for to slag him off.

Being a bit long in the tooth I haven't got to grips with the concept that you can do and say anything if it's funny. i think respect is an important quality and Semedo, Llera and indeed Weaver have mine.

I dont. He played and the club (and its supporters) paid his wages. Thats enough respect thats needed.

anything more from us has to be earned by putting in top performances. He didnt do that, infact he was terrible.

Llera and Semedo, both third rate players, playing in a 3rd tier team. We've moved on from that level and thank god for that. They put effort in when with us and Semedo won a player of the year on the back of that but thank god they are no longer with us and we have some quality in the side now.

Liera was not terrible. He had one or two poor games but he played in a side when all the squad had bad games.
Having said that , he wouldnt get close to getting in the side we have today.

Spot on SHG. I remember his performance at Colchester - absolutely dire but he never shirked it and he did put in some decent ones as well.

Get where you are coming from SHG but it was spontaneous and very funny. I loved Semedo's attitude when he was with us, but I am glad he is no longer as we have better players, but I gave him dog's abuse when he hauled down Pritchard as last man on the half way line. Was that wrong too ?
