The Bury 'save' last night

It was never a penalty it hit the post!
Then why did the Bury keeper go and congratulate the defender? (Watch it on the BBC vid it's unbelievable).

I was sitting behind the goal, it was their centre back tha dived making a superb two handed save. The shot was heading in the bottom corner.
I thought lots of people saw this.0 -
I wasn't sure at the time (from the centre of The Upper Covered End) & after watching the replay numerous times I'm still unsure.
Personally at the time, I didn't think the diving player reached it, but it hit the arm of the defender on the line.

It also shows haynes giving a bit of lip to the keeper! love it!

Yep the fact that the goalie congratulates him as well.0

The keeper could be congratulating the defender for charging Solly and putting him off? After all, he's hardly be thanking him publicly for handling the ball in the box!0

I think the keeper assumed he headed it when he used his hand - look where his hand is. It happend so quickly that I can't be too critical of the officials - I saw it more clearly at the ground than the video evidence is showing which is interesting. For me it was an excellent save from the defender - good enough to deserve to get away with!0

I'm not sure that picture is conclusive, its very blurry.

Agree- it was more clear to me in the ground than the video/picture evidence but I think the picture shows at the very least that the defender got mighty close to it with his hand. I say ,and some others too, I saw the ball hit it and if you look where his arm is, it is a penalty if the ref saw it. But If we can't prove it conclusively from pictorial evidence, it is going to be very hard. I think some people seem to be a bit more eagle eyed than others and that includes officials!0

I've watched it about 20 times, his hand was definitely up. I guess its one of those things though, they say it evens out over a whole season.

My point is though that you can't be too critical of the ref on that one- It was probably a question of where you were sitting so I am not feeling particularly hard done by. just saying he did handle it though!0

I can't see it Muttley.0

I sit fairly high up in the Family Stand and I and many others there were convinced that the ball took a deflection and that it was at least a corner. The video just demonstrates that the deflection came off the defenders hand.0

I'm amazed that it was even debated, the defender hurls himself at it with his arm outstretched. Hell of a save. I did start doubting myself when the normally reliable match report said that replays revealed it hit the post.0

Some people do seem to see these things better than others - It may be I have a good view in the ground but I do tend to spot them where others swear blind they saw something else. For instance, I saw as clear as day that the Exeter effort at the Valley didn't cross the line but others said if definitely did - you do start to doubt yourself but you know what you see....... don't you?0

No, I mean I can't view the photo!
I thought it was handball from block H of the east.0
