It's been a quiet week at Preview Towers.

With no Saturday game to dissect CL has drifted off in other and sometimes bizarre directions but there is still a game to look forward to this weekend - weather and Mendonca in Asdas thread titles permitting.

This will be our away first game against a team named after a sofa since 1981 when we also won promotion. This incarnation of the Spireites have struggled since promotion last season but have recently seen a mini-revival in both league and cup. They have a Wembley trip in the JPT to look forward to after an aggregate win over Oldham.

This has earnt manager John Sheridan (he of Leeds play-off free kick fame) a nomination for manager of month alongside our very own Chrissy Powell.

Chesterfield, however, still sit bottom of the league but know that 3 points could see them leap out of the bottom four.

But getting three home points against this Charlton side has not proved easy for most of this division. The Addicks will equal an all time club record of 12 away wins if they can secure another road trip victory.

Powell has had plenty of time to ponder his team selection. Bradley Wright-Phillips was "rested" v Bury but replacement Leon Clarke (who scored 9 goals for Chesterfield this term) failed to impress. Danny Haynes looked far more effective albeit in a brief cameo against a tired Bury defence. Many will expect the nifty forward to start, either up top or as a replacement for Danny Green.

Otherwise there seems to be little cause to shuffle the pack. Dale Stephens will surely start alongside yet another Danny (Hollands this time) and the back five seems set for the rest of the season bar injuries or suspensions.

We at Preview Towers fully expect to see a refreshed and rested Charlton run out 3 - 0 winners in front of 1500 away fans

Birthday win for me. Bwp brace
  • 0-2 Charlton
  • 4-0 to the addicks. The rest would've done us the world of good. BWP (2), Jackson and Green the scorers.

That's if the game goes ahead.

Ah, some normality returns. Football talk, previews and predictions !

oohaah's IBS will provide a uncomfortable week as we get turned over and the nerves really start to kick in as our rivals close the gap. Bottom teams do occassionally turn over top teams, and this will be one of them. Bradley will be back but will have another blank afternoon, leaving Powelly to be scratching his head on whether he perseveres with him, or gives Haynes a decent run.

Loads of doom and gloom and panic setting in on here, with many pledging its all going wrong, but few knowing the reason why.

    Have a nice weekend :-)

And as for 'our away first game against a team named after a sofa since 1981', what about some of our epic wins against Manchester Settee :-)

If it gets postponed we could do with having a Hudders/Wednesday/Utd postponements as well would put less pressure on any re-arranged games

I predict @wss will be regretting travelling to Chesterfield with 2 girls by the time the train gets out of the platform.

If it goes ahead - 3-0 to CAFC. Solly, Stephens & Big Yann to score.
