Sad, but depressingly not entirely surprising.

    Blimey, only 48?

She was at the top of the tree back in the 80's & 90's. What a waste.

    Kin hell.

She's looked ill for a while but only 48 ffs! Becoming a common trend now with singers dying young through drink/drugs. Sad.

Sad news. Saw Her live in Munich the night before the European cup final in 1988. Ruud gullet and the rest of the Holland team in the front row.

  • Very very sad for the lass at such a young age.
Hated her music - shrilling isn't my thing
  • She had real talent but seemed to go downhill when she married. What a waste.

Mmmmm...not altogether surprising given her on-going drug problems but of course a shock none-the-less, a real sad loss.
    RIP Whitney.......RIP.

So sad. I was into Madonna at the time. Loved some of her songs. She had a powerful voice, great singer. Ironically i used to try and dance (and fail) to Bobby Brown. I hope she was on her way to recovery. Sadly it wasn't to be I lost a friend a year ago so can't facing listening to her songs at the mo RIP Whiney, a true legend !!
  • Blimey that's weird there was a photo of her in yesterday's Daily Mail staggering out of a club and I said to the missus she will be dead before 50.

RIP gorgeous woman and amazing singer in her prime but as The Verve sang, The Drugs Dont Work...

    I thought that too.
Absolutely gorgeous back in her prime, such a waste.

"The Verve sang, The Drugs Dont Work.." was about the guys mum dying of cancer.
  • Supreme vocal talent, incredibly beautiful, tragic loss.
How many more do we have to lose to drugs? It might turn out she was clean when she died but it was destined the moment she hit that crack pipe for the first time.
    RIP Whitney x

Very sad news. My first obsession with music started with her and billy ocean in the 80s.
Saw that pic of her yesterday in the paper and thought it was a shame that she obviously had her demons. watching you tube videos of her (the super bowl final national anthem from the mid 90s and got goosebumps)
    RIP

Sad news..........tragic waste of a wonderful talent.....just watched a clip of her on Beeb site singing at a concert down under......it was really really bad..........out of tune and she looked so 'wasted'............people complained afterwards that she was awful, worst concert they had ever been to etc. etc...............yet when you cast your mind back to 80/90's she was stunning looking with a voice of an angel...then up pops Bobby Brown and it seemed to go down hill from there...........god bless you Whitney.......may you Rest in Peace.

had lots of talent. wasn't fame and fortune seems to come at the ultimate price on far too many occasions.

Very, very sad. Her songs bring back a lot of memories for me. RIP.
  • Trending on Twitter F YOU BOBBY BROWN. not sure if he was entirely to blame as in her later life she could have seeked help and sorted her self out, but he really did screw her up. RIP Whitney, may you now finally be free of your demons Xxx

You can tell someone is a star, when the get sympathy for being an addict. People see the average drug users as scum, what a difference a voice makes
