An interesting take on the Football League so far!

A'noon All,
Have been more of a CL voyeur to date, so by way of an introduction: been following Charlton since that rampaging Israeli knocked 3 past us for Liverpool at Sell-out Park back in 1988 (I think!), and seen all the highs and lows since. Had a season tkt and managed to sponsor a couple of games in days gone by, and can be found in Noth Upper J Block when I can get to games (running your own company is a wicked, and not the best-looking, mistress!).
Life story aside, I've just seen the following, which I think pretty much sums up the professionalism and focus that has returned to the team this year (and has been lacking for far too long):

It just shows that not all statistics are misleading. But look at (e.g.) M'Boro and Hull, both doing well in the C'ship but stats indicate that they should be struggling.0

nice graph. interesting to see that not only do we have the most clinical attack, but also the most resilient defence.

It just shows that not all statistics are misleading. But look at (e.g.) M'Boro and Hull, both doing well in the C'ship but stats indicate that they should be struggling.
It doesn't indicate they should be struggling so much as they miss more chances than they take, which looking at their league position means they still make (and then score) sufficient chances to be doing well. That coupled with their strong defence means if they carve out 6 chances on goal, only score one but play out the clean sheet they'll still climb the table. I think the most interesting thing about that graph is for all the talk of attractive football, it seems that having a strong defence is still the order of the day. Barnsley, Ipswich and Wycombe have good scoring numbers but are still wallowing towards the bottom of their leagues0 -
If I'm reading this correctly, you have to shoot at Charlton twice as often to get a goal than you do at Sheff W, yet they've not conceded twice as many goals as we have. Is the vertical column therefore a better indicator of the goalies performance than the defence as a whole?0

Interesting but really cant work out what conclusions to make
6 out of 8 most clinical attacks are in Div1.0 -
The y axis is more a measure of the crapness of opposition strikers than the efficiency of a teams defence. Interesting though.0

@Bagpuss, despite Hamer's undoubted susceptibility to the odd almighty clanger, he's been a pretty solid stop-stopper this term. Take your point, though, and our facing the Lisbies of this World rather than fielding them must certainly help.
Here's hoping for a decent win tonight and the other half (who thought football on Valentine's night was a good idea!!) doesn't realise her mistake!?!?!?0 -

Have asked the guy to break out home and away which he's gonna try and do this week. Not sure about updates later on in the season.......hopefully for us it'll be academic before the usual end-of-season catfight (or slump in our case!) and we'll all be sitting back supping on a nice pint of success!0
