I wouldnt have thought so given he was awarded his costs from the HMRC as a result of the trial so wouldnt have cost him a penny.0 -

Presumably not as the jury believed it was an "investment". So no tax would be due until there was either, interest, a dividend or a significant capital gain. And as it was offshore it's possible that any tax on a capital gain would not be due until after the gain had actually been drawn down. Of course, that would be when Harry had retired and his income was reduced so much that only basic rate tax was payable ;-)0 -
Harry is such a loveable old rogue that only the most hard hearted of hanging juries would have had the collective cold heart to send him down. A judge sitting alone ? .. now that could have been a totally different outcome0

Seeing that he has one of the best houses in Sandbanks, worth several million, I really do not think that a few grand on tax is either one way or another. If he had a decent accountant he could probably end up getting a refund on what he has paid. Let's get back to slagging off bankers rewarded for failure eh!. They are ones who put us in the brown stuff.0
