Before last night when was the last time we had more than one pen in a game (other than shoot-outs)

And any memorable games with more than one penalty.

I can remember the home game v Palace in September 85 when the move to Selhurst was announced. Reid scored two and miss another.

Also didn't we get two away to Ispwich when we won 5 - 1. Leaburn completed his hat trick with the second.

I instantly thought of that Palace game. Wish I had kept the slip of paper I was handed about leaving the Valley. Does anybody still have one?

Think Andy Reid scored two in last 15 minutes against Norwich in our first year after relegation. Think McLeod came on and won them both!

Also didn't Mendonca score two against Southampton when we beat them 5-0?

Wasn't there a game against Norwich? where we won 2-0, both penalties won by Izale Mcleod, given by the ref with a turban (Mr Singh?). In the Championship season with Pardew?

    EDIT: Beaten to it!!

I reckon I could get £10 - £15 for one in good condition if auctioned on here at least.

    A really historically important document

Southend away 1991-92 missed them both. Pitcher and Walsh took them.

1997-98 Tranmere home in the penultimate game. Won 2-0 with two Mendonca penalties...

Super Clive did it more than once.

Home to Tranmere in the last home game of the play off winning season. I think Neil Heaney won one of them. Edit - The game Spankie just posted.

He also did it at home to Barnsley in the opening game of 1999/00. He got a hat-trick in a 3-1 win.
  • the 4-4 against millwall, burton scored two.

I was there, and couldn't watch either as I was so nervous! We'd been on a 6 game winning streak but drew this 1-1
  • Jason Euell scored 2 penalties in a 2-2 draw at home to Everton.

Rooney got one of their goals.
  • Can someone tell me why west brom late 80s early 90s springs to mind?

I was there, sitting at the back of the covered end, beat the arse 3-1 going on to get promoted. Our CB Steve Thompson at that time is still to my memory the slowest player I haev ever seen.

No - we never played Millwall that season. Home or away, didnt happen, not on my radar, refuse to believe it.

Re the Leaburn hattrick, I have a vague memory of ceefax saying penalty was scored by Pardew rather than Leaburn. Did he play in that game and score the first penalty?

There was only one penalty in the Leaburn hat-trick at Ipswich. We weren't awarded any others that day.

A Chapple tap in and a Linger volley were the other two goals.
  • Vital promotion winning game against Preston in '75.(?)
From memory, we missed the first Pen and scored the second one, both taken by Bob Curtis. (RIP)
  • I remember Robbo missing one to complete a 1st half hat-trick vs. WBA. We got another one in the 2nd half and Mortimer scored it.

Have we ever had anyone score a hat trick with all 3 goals coming from penalties?

Newcastle at home around 1977-78. We won 4.1 after going 1.0 down in the first sixty seconds. I remember Lawrie Madden skied one over the bar at the open end(south stand). Terrible penalty!

Can`t remember who took the 2nd one which was our equaliser. Anyone know?

I remember seeing us play Huddersfield away around 84/85 and we conceded 3 pens. The first two went in and Johns saved the 3rd. Lost 2-1

I was at that Huddersfield game at the old Leeds Road. Think we took the lead with a header after a flick on from a corner. Remember feeling stunned at all of the pens they were being given. Think most of the action was at our end.

I'm sure it wasn't the last, but didn't Mendonca get two at home against Barnsley on the opening day of our championship winning season?
  • Pretty sure there was a game at home to Watford I think in 93-94, think we one 2-1, Pardew scored 2pens and missed a 3rd, so potentially 3 pens in one game... unless I'm misremembering and he scored one from open play, 1 pen and then missed another pen.

    Anyone else remember this game?
