Comments

  • This is some mucked up incident !
  • the reporter is so relaxed?!?!!

'theres a suspicion of witchcraft because the scores were finely balanced'

'it is relativley frequent for football teams to hire witchdoctors to place hexes on the opponents.'

    oh, of course, of course

    wow! RIP those 11.
  • Crikey... I think this has happened before. One team was wearing one type of boots, and that is why only they were killed. More likely than witchcraft anyway!
  • as i guess from the video the lightning hit the ground and then was conducted through the victimes feet. so having different boots from the other team, ones in which conduct the current more, seems like you say McBobbin the best explanation for this.

The video is not of the Congolese game - I'm guessing it's of the South African one mentioned in the article where six players were hurt.

Actually, call me a cynic but I reckon the article about the 11 players being killed is a load of rubbish.

Pretty sure he was a tallish inside forward, fair/red headed and graceful on the ball. Seem to remember it reported he was sheltering under a tree during a storm.

The more I look into it, the more I think you're right. I can't find any decent sources for the original story.
  • Looking at that video, I didn't realise that the normal treatment for someone who had been electrocuted was to stretch his hamstring or rub a bag of ice on his head!

  • Was this fake news:

This accident was widely known on the Internet and was also reported in the BBC and Independent articles above, but there is still frequent discussion in foreign countries about whether this accident actually occurred.

An accident in which only 11 members of one team died during a soccer game is not a common occurrence, and this is especially true if the accident is not caused by a stampede due to crowds of spectators , but is caused by lightning. However , doubts are being raised because the article about the incident in question only exists because it was published on the same day .

As soccer is a popular sport around the world, you can find many articles about related incidents and accidents. For example, in the Burnden Park disaster of 1946, which is called the 'forgotten disaster' in England , a lot of related materials remain, including photographs, testimonies, articles, and memoirs of the injured, and even the 1902 Ibrox disaster, which occurred in 1902 , has not only photos from the time but also records of those involved. Interviews and testimonies remain. In addition to this, there are many articles and photographs of accidents, both large and small, that occurred during soccer games.

However, there are very few articles about the incident. All articles were written on the day of the incident, and articles written afterward were copied and pasted from the article at the time, asking, "What happened in the past on this day?" It's just an article to some extent. Furthermore, articles from that date only list the names of the soccer teams, and it is difficult to find information on the players' rosters. There are also testimonies that even searching in Congolese yields little related data. # Due to some information being mixed up, a video of an accident that occurred in South Africa was mistakenly identified as a video of the accident.

There is also an opinion that the reporter may have misunderstood and wrote the article about the South African incident below, which is a very similar incident that occurred just over a month ago.

For this reason, there is considerable controversy as to whether this incident actually occurred. In a word, it can be seen as a case similar to a mud cucumber .

On the other hand, there is a argument that the details of the contents of the Congo were in full swing in Congo at the time . In addition, it should be considered that the UK is a developed country and a great country, and it will be more interested in Congo, which is the poorest country, and leaves more records.
