Got to say that at the moment we are looking for someone to cover Jackson who still doesn't look fully fit and the fact that LLoyd knows the club would have made him ideal as he can also play either wing

Nolly would have combusted if he'd have seen Sams smiling face on the OS.

Well, if he came back to Charlton, he'd know how to play Scapegoat.

Good move for us hopefully with them playing Massive and Blades in next week or so, he can put in one hell of a cross and created a fair amount of our goals previously

Let's hope he can stuff the Sheffield clubs.
  • No thanks.

Why is it after a player, who wasn't rated by many, leaves if he comes back back he's the answer to our prayers?

Move on he's history but I hope he does a good job for County against the Sheffield clubs though. We have plenty of cover in the squad in the shape of Green / Wagstaff, Russel, Hughes, Pritchard and Evina with the option to play Hollands on the left if need be.

At one time he was rated by Curbs and KP as the best prospect to come through the Academy. The question is, why couldn't he fulfil that potential?

I think Sam plays better on the left wing then all of those players.

It's all about opinions although I must say I'm glad you are not picking the team for Scunny then. We don't have to play with an out and out winger.

so overrated its untrue............he is worse than Waggy at crossing, which is saying something and at least Waggy is likely to score as well.

No thanks - and can't see him helping us either - will probbaly play like a sack of s**t and help the 2 Sheff teams to wins against the mighty County !!

Unrealistic expectations as I said in the rumours thread. "So overrated"? don't really remember anyone rating him as a top player.

Good League 1 player who played like one. No worse than Green or Waggy, but because he had that bit more skill on the ball he was seen as underachieving.

As Oggy said, he knew how to play scapegoat. He produced as much as any winger we had at this level. Kyel Reid, now he was overrated...

No better than many of the other midfielders/wingers we released earlier (JCR, Miles Weston etc) it was just that we had sunk to a lower level, so he fitted into the team.

Could do some nice things, but terrible finisher, he skied so many shots!

Good luck to him, was a key factor in a bloody awful team, and was majorly more important than plenty of better paid stars. Shame he got inured when he started so well at Leeds. Easily championship level when fit.

A dissapointing player as opposed to a shyte player (I've seen dozens worse in an Addicks shirt over the years).........subtle difference I suppose.

Jamal Campbell-Ryce was excellent for Barnsley. He made a move to Bristol City when they were sniffing around promotion from the Championship but he and they have faded away again. I've got a mate who's a Barnsley fan and he was miserable when JCR left

Totally agree with this appraisal. Got a mate who's a Leeds season ticket holder and he'd say the same. Talking about him last week actually and my mate said he'd lost his way at Elland Road after he'd really impressed when he first went there.

We both agreed there was something in him, just a shame Lloyd wasn't showing it.

That was him in every phase. Excellent in summer, then fades, then has another purple patch around february. But even when he doesn't he can still be a factor.

Thought he was hugely overrated. Had an awkward style about him which would lead to commentators calling him a 'skilful and tricky' winger, but all we really saw was him running around on the spot in circles of the ball.

Plus he is one the laziest players I've seen at Charlton.

    Jackson/Wagstaff/Kyel Reid/Haynes/Danny Green > Lloyd Sam

reminds me of one particular sky sports co commentator (i forget the name) who used to jizz himself everytime sam got on the ball, like he was going to take it round a load of players or make that killer cross.

    Always disappointed

Thinking back, I remember questioning his decision making and general football 'intelligence' as he so often seemed to miss the correct pass, to take on the 3rd man and lose the ball when he could have crossed etc. I can imagine being a very frustrating player to play alongside, as he does have some ability but rarely produces anything.
