Why do we pay when he walks away from a contract? Didn't know development fee still applies. If you couldn't honour a contract the player was always entitled to leave for nothing. Maybe it is just the development fee.
  • Would love it to be true but simply cannot believe it!

    Don't think we'd pay anything.

....must be something in it, Id be surprised if he gets permission to play this season though.

Yea how would that work? He'd be a good signing though, particular at a time when our left winger is playing with an injury.

Seems unlikely to be made up. Doesn't mean he would pick us though.

Never heard of him until the other day when he left Rangers. What's he like?

Only seen a few bits and bobs of him TBH, but i'd gladly have him.

    Highly doubt it's true though.

You'd think Bolton would go back in for him if they bid £400k last summer

Could be some truth in it - out of the clubs named , we must be the one that is in 'desperate' need for a left winger - so could mean we are willing to pay to see off competition

I think you can sign an out-of-contract player at any time. Also I seem to remember that development fees don't apply in Scotland (did we get one for Randolph?). There will probably be hefty signing on/agents fees though.
  • If there is any mileage in this then it would indicate to me at least that the board do really mean business next season by looking to compete with Championship and Prem teams for players to enable us to progress. Encouraging IMHO.

I thought for an out of contract player to be able to play, they had to be out of contract in the last transfer window...I could be mistaken though

    Is he any good then?

Pretty sure there's a free transfer deadline around the time of the the loan window which means if he signed he can be registered and play this season

I like how he helped Rangers out in their time of need, didn't have to do it shows football isn't all about the money for him

or that he had offers on the table and got a juicy signing on fee?

    :)
  • Maybe he fears becoming a bench-warmer for a Prem side, and would prefer playing for the 1st team of an ambitious Championship side? Doesn't sound unreasonable.

Using us to push up his wage with the big boys. Would be a great signing but this all sounds a bit Kezman

In Scotland the press create stories about Celtic and Rangers every day. When I was up there in Jan. the lead story in the Scottish Mail was that Kermogant was going to Celtic.

But thats because Celtic were genuinly interested. Kermo said he wasn't and so they left it.

That was when they were an established Premier League team

Now they are highly likely to be a Championship team and already have £25m debt. They are in a very bad way

He's a good young winger, maybe a bit lightweight but that will probably come with time.

Would love this to be true, and to be fair it's the sort of signing that we should be looking at if we want to kick on. However I'd imagine a Prem team will snap him up.
