Was hoping we would get Ephram back.

Not happy with these two. More like last years players than this years.

He was utterly awful last time he was here. No fitness and no interest in playing for us.

Different club now. Hopefully a different outcome.

Cant believe he is only 29!.
there were so many of these weren't there, just hope we aren't getting a bit pardewesque here..

Don't think this is going to the Pardew route. We are bringing players in to cover which imo is what the loan window should be for. We keep losing Jackson to injury which is a shame because he does make a difference to the way the team play, and with Haynes and Clarke not available we needed cover. Cook is a natural winger he just needs to prove it again. I don;t know enough about N'Guessen to comment, but lets see what they can do.

Cook was awful last time but then again so was most of the squad.

He should do a decent enough job to cover for JJ.

But why did we not just get Ephraim on loan again?

Prob just could not get Ephraim again Cook will be better the second time around.

    Are you mad?

"Let's see what they can do". Read most of the comments we already know what they can do, f*ck all.

The football experts on here who have watched both these players week in and week out know what the're talking about.

So you write off two professional footballers who have been plying their trade at a decent level for years and are obviously thought of as good enough by their managers but you know better. Have you applied for the Chelsea job yet ?

    Bit over the top this.

I guess we were all hoping for some unbelievable loan signings that would shatter the confidence of morale of all our opponents, but SCP has gone with low risk signings both from local clubs, who know the Division.

Lee Cook fills an obvious gap at LM, I'm not so sure what role N'Guessan will play?

N'Guessan can provide pace from the bench hopefully score a few.

Not at all happy with this signing. Awful player who is part of the reason we are in this league in the first place. He better hit the ground running because there will be zero patience with him. I would rather Callum Harriott or Ceddy Evina had been given a chance ahead of him. Or anyone for that matter.

Playing devil's advocate he was one of the most underwhelming of a group of underwhelming loans foisted on us by the Pardkinson brothers. The only one that I can think of that was worse than him, was Scott Sinclair, who's gone on to carve out a very decent premiership career. I think we must recognize that there was a toxic atmosphere at the club during that period and nobody really came out of it well. I fully expect him to be a poor option, but am prepared to be surprised and heartened.
  • Unless I am mistaken SA's comments are more a dig at those writing off cool and the long named other lad than the ability of the 2 players

Good luck to them both with 9 crucial games left we have 2 experienced pro Footballers in the right positions

They don't have much of a chance though Clarke was wrote off after 15 mins

Zero patience? I'm sure that will help, sounds like you want him to 'fail' again.

Funny because it came across as i know nothing and don't have a right to comment. Like any player thats come to Charlton i give them a chance and will with these guys too. Getting on their backs before they start helps no one, even though technically Cook started already and had a mare. But as others have said he was in a team lacking confidence and he was unfit when he came to us. "Lets see what they can do"

people said kermorgant was an underwhelming signing

people said that solly wouldn't cut it in our first team.

Think by the end of this season a lot of people may be scoffing down on some humble pie.

I read it like that as well but looking closer it may have been a bit of sarcastic humour. I suppose a little smiley would have helped. :-)

PS I do appreciate the support from those who understand what i am saying.
  • I don't know the poster but reading it again I am certain he was having a dig back at all those slating cook and dng, and rightly so I mean who has seen them play or know anything about them,

Couldn't let this idiocy get away. You think you're a "football expert", you are basing your judgement of a player based on 9 games he played in a Charlton shirt 5 years ago. Despite the fact Cook has forged a professional career since that time, and was successful before it, you believe that you are the expert and he can truly do "f*ck all".

I mean, I shouldn't have to justify myself, you're probably not even serious. But let's take another look at the players who underwhelmed that season:

    Thomas - playing in prem.
    Sinclair - playing in prem.
    Varney - played prem/now lower-level Champ
Hudson - high level Champ/captain/league cup final
    Gray - lower-level Champ
    McCarthy - mid-level Champ/league cup semi
    Ambrose - mid-level Champ/lots of goals
    Bougherra - Rangers/ Champions League

    Charlton Athletic - LEAGUE 1

The fact is none of these players are pony or useless and they have all found more success than we have in recent years. The management was uninspired, the atmosphere at the Club low and it didn't work out. The fact they are still playing at a decent level reveals to us they are decent players.

There seems to be a certain amount of vitriol towards Cook which I can't really understand. He doesn't stick in my memory as someone I was glad to see the back of like some more recent player departures. Ok he didn't set the world alight when on loan last time but he was coming back from injury. If the guy gets his chance let's keep an open mind encourage and judge him afterwards, if you must FFS. Of course what the detractors are ultimately doing is calling into question the judgement of SCP.

Anyone who saw us lose 5-3 at Blackpool would be entitled to throw some vitriol in Cook's direction. I certainly did that day...But prepared to give him a second chance under SCP.

But the whole team was pretty rubbish that day, it's not as if he was the weak link, letting down 10 brilliant players on top of their game

Nine games (only 4 starts) 5 years ago one of which was a mare at Blackpool...........oh that makes it ok to slag him off then, silly me.
  • The person responsible for leading our team and who has us 9 points clear with 9 games left wants him. Good enough for me. COYR
