to blow it from here, bearing in mind the Wendies' result. The gap is now 11 points (to Huddersfield) with 8 to play.

Are we up to it?

yep they do. would love a draw on saturday
  • So if they win the game in hand the gap is 11 points. 11 divided by 8 is.....?

I can honestly say that I'm not in the slightest bit worried about us not going up. We only need to get a point a game to ensure it in my opinion, and I'll think we'll get that easily. We can lose at Hudderfield and it won't make any difference.

Good grief, we have a goal difference of +40, are 9 points ahead of second place, 11 ahead of third place and you are bed-wetting about whether we'll chuck it away?

Definitely take a point on Saturday, that'll knock Hudds out
  • No, not really. But this is Charlton and I still have painful memories of 2000 when we could have clinched promotion at Forest on April 8th and ended up getting promoted much later on a day we didn't even play because someone else failed to win. We won the championship at Blackburn not because we won but because Man City didn't.

I would like to do this in some sort of style - do go out needing a result and to get that result

    No...

We won the championship because over the course of the season we accrued more points than every other team in the league.

Just as we will this year.

Yes, it is that simple to comprehend.

    Exactly.

It's not just a Charlton tradition, Hugo ........the nerves kick in for everybody in the promotion pack during the run in..

Maximum possible point totals for Wendies/Udders is 95 and for the Blades, it's 97.

5 more wins takes us to 97 points.

And thats only if they win them ALL, they will drop points.

True. But wouldn't it be lovely for everyone to do cross the finish line in style rather than to prostrate ourselves and wait for the finsih line to creep towards us? Even if it takes a Jim Tolmey to do it?
  • Three more wins will leave Sheff Utd needing to win six of their last eight just to match us.
