So if a team with Alonso, Pritchard and Hughes lost does that mean Russell isn't the pariah anymore? Do we love Russell again?

i'm not overeacting but none of the players who played tonight deserve to pull on a CAFC shirt again.EVER! I have just smashed my tele in and threatened the old lady next door with the thrashing of her life.

    ps

The highlight of Alonso's season, and why he left Spain to come and play for us...
  • Oh well at least it will save a few quid.... We won't need a bigger
Trophy cabinet after all .... Every cloud does have a silver lining.

What did we win in 1957?
Was it the Heinze tomato soup cup?

Heinze baked bean cup? The players would then have to lay in a bath tub full of baked beans?

i don't know who the tactician was for that game but whoever it was should be sacked.

no width. none whatsoever. 3 up front for second half. what's the point when there is no players to pass them the ball.
evina had a mare of a game. alonso was awful. don't hold much hope for joe pigott. the rest cant seem to pass the ball to each other. when one managed probably by sheer luck get the ball to one of their own players the player would then miss control it.
the defence lobbing the ball into the midfield...if your gonna play hoff ball (against a much bigger team than you) then at least get it up to the forwards.

unless you were there you wouldn't believe how bad they were. no exaggeration.

However it wasn't solely the players fault. the tactics were atrocious. when they did change it they made it worse.

i should calm down as it is really a bit of a pointless game in the grand scheme of things but when you see a display like that you hope to god that no more injury's happen to the first team.

edit: overreaction - nope. the game i saw was crap. the tactics terrible.
should the coach be sacked, maybe a slight overreaction, but he did get it very wrong.

A disappointing game. I had expected a lot more from the team that took the field. The five 1st team squad players seemed to be going through the motions in the first half. Alonso constantly looked for the ball and his pass completion was good but with no end product. Pritchard struggled to get into the game but faired better 2nd half. Euell was not prepared to put his foot in and really disappointed. Evina posed a threat going forward and I didn't think he played too bad, crossing for the equaliser after a good run to the byeline. Hughes was the best of a bad bunch and kept cajolling those around him. I don't see any of these five threatening the the 1st team regulars for a place at the moment. It is the first I have seen of Jordan Cousins and was not impressed, he seemed to lack confidence on the ball and is not good enough to deputise for Solly at this Juncture. Azzeez is big and pacey and could be the one bright hope for the future. Pope flapped at a couple and was beaten by a low squirming shot from 30 yards for the Darts 2nd goal (sounds familar)! Without being too critical on the back of one game, the rest of the Youth players flattered to deceive and to be fair Dartford are a tidy outfit and are a comfortable 2nd in the Conference Blue Square South for a very good reason. So the dream of the treble is over; we now have to concentrate on completing the double. COYR

Damien Matthew seemed to be calling all the shots from the technical area.

Agree with Deadred and Karim- the game/team promised lots but delivered little. Pritchard had a decent enough game, linked well wil Evina on left flank, and Hughes did what Hughes does OK. Alonso & Euell, waste of a shirt, Pigott/Azeez disappointing at this level. Sho-Silva caused more problems to the announcer than to the Darts as 2nd half sub. I made it 2 shots on target in 90 mins, including the goal...(pitch dark in Darenth Road afterwards made it a tricky exit!!)

Did Alonso's shot end up on the Dartford crossing?

Well, it wasn't great, but then it's a scratch team against a team second in the Blue Square South who know each other. As for the width issue, Damien Matthew is hardly in a position to ask for Lee Cook and Danny Green for the evening, so you just have to get on with what you've got.

Positives, Azeez, who looks quick, strong and direct, Cousins was steady, as were the centre halves.

Jason Euell was terrible! The most shocking player out there last night, Piggot wasn't impressive up top either. I think Azeez looks tricky, makes clever runs and has a bit of pace, but apart from that is was far too mediocre. Cousins wasn't too good, I was hoping he would live up to the hype.

The usual over reaction by some posters. Firstly don't forget Dartford are a pretty useful side at their level, 2nd in thier league and were drfinately up for it.
Should also remember 2 other things. For the youngsters this is a big occassion, rarely will they have played in front of over 1,600 people and although there would have been more at Old Trafford this woyuld have been far more intimidating. The first team squad players wouldn't have trained much let alone played with the younsters. Mostly they were half fit.

First half fairly even and 1-1 at break was fair. 2nd half Dartford stepped it up and deservedly won. 2nd goal was along range shot but did get a nasty bounce before it beat Pope.

Of the youngsters Azzez was lively, the CH's were reasonably confident and Cousins showed some promise but is still a couple of years off first team prospect I would say.

    Of the first team squad.
Eull - sorry he is past it and was off the pace at this level
Hughes - reasonable first half but faded badly and disapeared totally in last 20 - no way reeady for recall to 1st 11
Alonso - always looking for the ball which was nice to see but unfortunately was on a different wave length to most of the rest - could at least see some potentail
Pritchard - did Ok and was one of the better players but certainly didn't shine
Evina - contrary to an earlier poster I thought generally looked a cut above the rest. Still made too many mistakes though to be considered for first team action

Overall a useful run out, experience for the younger players but not good enough on the night.

I can't believe that anyone hoping to be in the squad on Saturday wasn't getting stuck right in. They should not have been concerned about getting injured in such a big game. It would have been worth getting injured to reach the final :-)

No-one playing last night was ever going to be considered for the 11 on saturday no matter how they performed. Stevens is a nailed on starter

I said squad not the 11. Pritchard, Hughes, Evina & Euell have a chance, that's 36% of the starting 11. NB it's Stephens not Stevens.

On the youngsters should remember if they were to go out on loan it would probably be to BSS or even the level below.

Think Mambo is the only one in last few years that has played at BSP level, at least regularly anyway. Warren's also there now but think his club are bottom of the league.

Have seen Cousins a few times on TV, like Solly an intelligent player, rather than pacey/powerful and exciting. Still only 18 so plenty of time for him to develop.
  • So from anyone who went last night....is Alonso going to be an option for the last 7 games??
