They're up on the BBC site now:

Quite a good selection of chances; I wasn't at the game, so I'm glad they've got the main talking points in there.
BWP's penalty claim - a definite penalty, but perhaps he's 'looking for it' too much?
And as for Cort's handball, it's just not clear enough on my screen for me to be able to tell.
But that play from Lee Cook to set up the second goal was immense - definitely showing he's a different player to the last time he was here.

Thoughts?

Cort's arm is up but the speed that hit the back of the net you'd think only a header could have achieved that. BWP went down too late.

BWP was one of those, some you get, some you don't but I can see why it wasn't given. He was looking a bit for it but some refs would have definitely given it. Cort's handball can't clearly see from the footage. Cook's assist, what a cross, one of the best I've seen for a while and a great header by Dany.

Surely Cort would have/should have been booked had he have handled the ball in....though with that ref nothing surprises me.

same for the pen, if a player goes down and ref says no pen then he has to yellow card them for diving!!

Yep BWP looked for it, and Rahubka gave it to him, the ref then bottled the decision in the first 5 minutes

Not necessarily a yellow for no pen. When a player goes down under a challenge it's not automatically a dive if it's not a foul. See the difference between BWP and Andy Carroll's laughable effort yesterday.
As regards the handball if the referee thinks it is deliberate handball and he's handling the ball towards goal then yes that should've been a yellow card (think Suarez v Wigan)

Stone wall penalty not even an element of doubt. The ref must have had his reading contact lenses in 1st half shame the lino was on the blind side.

With the BWP penalty claim, it looked to me then and now on replay that the keep grabbed him round the waiste which is what sent him over. How it was not a penalty I can not imagine. The Cort header replay not clear enough, but as said above the speed of the ball into back of net seems to only be possible from a header.

Also with the Cort goal not one Orient player protested. They knew that was a legitimate goal and the reactions of the Charlton players suggest the same!

Was clear cut penalty but BWP tried to stay on his feet as he still sniffed a goal and went down with a touch of a delay, but ref was inept in the first half like so many are. I think he did improve in the second but we are due a few good ones!

There were at least two Orient players on the line and neither appealed, normally players appeal even if there is the slightest hint that it might be handball.

This. They were throwing their hands up in frustration and having a go at each other. Not one of them seemed to even appeal.

Would have thought Powell would have mentioned it though if the ref had got that one wrong!

It was BWP when Jacko was out last season. Remember that terrible one along the floor for the Notts televised game?
This squad I'd prefer either Yann or one of the CMs.

I reckon Solly could take a penalty successfully if required

  • Not a single Os defender went up for handball which makes me think it was never hands. As I said in the match views thread, if it was then it's a yellow for deliberate handball and the speed it went in then Cort should have been a champion boxer if that was off his hand...

On one of the O's websites the match report claims Cort's goal was ruled out for a foul on Rachubka, yeah right!!
