Snow shouldn't be a problem in itself provided that the pitch isn't frozen.

There are still a few days to go and at this time of year temperatures should rise quite quickly with a corresponding thaw which hopefully won't cause a waterlogged pitch.

prolly one of the reasons so few tickets have been sold
  • I remember watching Charlton play at Oldham over Xmas sometime in the late 1970s. That was played in minus 15 degrees & on a pitch that was at least 3 feet deep in snow. Those were the days!!

not surprised you have jumped ship to Dubai mate

  • I'm sure it'll be OK. Hopefully we won't have a repeat of the game in 1997 when we travelled up in perfect weather only for the fog to descend an hour before kick-off resulting in the game being called off. The weather for the re-arranged game wasn't much better, driving wind and rain as I recall. Charlton played in Oldham's away kit and scraped a last minute draw courtesy of Brendan O'Connell.

I remember going to Oldham .......when they had that awful plastic pitch with the ping pong bounce of the ball.
  • I'm in Manc and it's chilly, that's about it. Warming up a bit for the weekend too.

Just seen photos in today's paper of abandoned cars in snowdrifts in Oldham ! Serious comment once again.
Just because Manchester is fine it doesn't mean Oldham is.
It could be fine in the City & thick snow In Charlton.
  • I was in Oldham today. Piles of snow but bright sunshine all day so will be nothing to worry about!

Think if there was any doubt an announcement would have been made by now

It might not be called off for snow, however if the snow melts it could leave the pitch unplayable, if only they had their plastic pitch!!!

I'm about 3 miles off oldhams ground, it was very cloudy today but not too cold, it looks like its going to rain soon though, it was glorious sunshine yesterday and snow the day before so I don't know how helpful I can be :/

I was at that one too. Coming off the M62 it was fine then as we dropped into Oldham it was like Brigadoon. Think it only got called off at about 7:30. People were just wandering around looking bemused.

The day the away end was closed was in 84/85. Lost 2-1...Paul Curtis late consolation and there were about 60 Charlton supporters there.
  • Would be pretty gutted if this was called off, some light snow on the hills but nothing in the surrounding areas around the ground.
  • Unbelievable. Thought we would do this in a bit of style with return flights to Manchester. Bmi return cancelled last week. Ba flight up cancelled 04:00 this morning. £75 single ticket up. Anyone know about ba cancellation policy? Btw £20 from Manchester Piccadilly in cab. Didn't even check train ticket on way up. Tonight's lottery numbers are as follows.........
