I think quite a few of us were on Charlton to win the league, ranging between 20s and 1

I think quite a few of us were on Charlton to win the league, ranging between 20s to 10s, which might explain why some of us are so edgy about winning it and not getting promoted in 2nd !!

Yep in a way it's made this run in even more nerve wracking - I have £20 at 12/1... however I have faith the boys will have me £240 richer come May!

I have 50 pounds on Charlton to win the league at 15.0

Would make the title even sweeter.

Annoyingly I only had us to get promoted rather than win the league, and I cant even remember what odds I got!

Also had Man Utd, West Ham, Charlton, Swindon and Celtic all to win their leagues, so cheers West Ham!!

AFC Wimbledon to win League 2 Handicap Table, way off the mark with that one.

Brighton to win Championship Handicap Table, not checked but think I might be in with a chance for that one.

Anyone who has us at > 10s should just lay it at 1.20-ish on Betfair.

Am definitely considering it, last time I looked there wasn't enough of a market though.

Lesson learnt from this is never bet on the Championship!

In simple terms, laying a bet is taking a bet from someone else, so you are in effect the bookie. So you would be taking a bet from someone that charlton will win the league - if they do you pay out, if they don't you keep the stake. Obviously, now that the odds are much, much lower than when you made the initial bet, you can probably lock in 90% of the profit on your initial bet without taking any more risk.

I'm not great at explaining this sort of thing, but I'll have a go.

Let's say you've backed Charlton to win the league at 10-1 (or 11.0 in decimal odds) for £10. If (when!) we win the league, you'll win £100..

You can lay Charlton to win the league on Betfair. This means you'll offer someone else a price at which you think is fair for CAFC to win the league. There are currently some people who'd like to back Charlton at 1.23 to win the league (significantly lower than the 11.0 you backed them at). You could lay this for £10. When we win the league, you'll have to pay out on this bet - giving the person who took the bet £2.30 (10 * (1.23 - 1) = £2.30).

If Charlton win the league, your £10 @ 11.0 wins you £100, and you pay out £2.30 on your lay. Overall outcome: 100 - 2.30 = £97.70
If Charlton fail to win the league, your £10 @ 11.0 loses, but you get to keep the £10 from your lay. Overall outcome 10 - 10 = £0.
