  • AB the point is being totally missed, do you not agree with more awareness and promotion of the services available that potentially the club could have had more fans in Carlisle? Just as when the club promotes the discounted rates for home games is it done a week before?

I am sorry i feel that the players need as much support as possible for the run in and in my opinion maybe things could have been done better, but that's just my opinion

away support is somthing the club does need to address although correct me if im wrong we dont earn anything from away games do we? take next season in the championship, middlesbrough or hull away on a saturday will be amazed if we took 500+. London clubs on the whole dont seem to travel in large numbers unlike northen teams, unless chelsea are playing man utd you will often see empty seats in the away end. Its a london thing not just a charlton thing.
To be fair, why would anyone just go to Middlesbrough if it wasn't for football? I imagine a part of the draw for northern teams is a day out in London as well.

I maybe wrong but I think Jamesbeasly used to post on here as Jimbo something. Got banned after defending his singing of the lisbie song.

Don't care how many we take away. If it was just me and my mates at Preston I couldn't care less.

I go to see my team away when I can spare the time and the cash. I don't go to be part of a mass rally of people who care too much what other teams do.

I think AB has an open & shut case tbf.
I am one of only 150, that had wanted to go by coach 3 days before the game.
The train option has been available for 3 months plus.
I think you're getting carried away, because a few people have said they would have liked to go by coach, but one isn't available for about 10 people.

truth is outside of the m25 is a shitehole and leeds sheffield take so many away fans just so they can escape the mire and doom and gloom that is there home town.. the joy of getting on t'coach for a trip to anywhere different means they will always travel in large numbers, so weds are taking 5k to colchester.. bet they only take 245 back with them.. ;-)
  • Classic Charlton. More angst about train arrangements than promotion.

They should have hired out the Orient Express and issued everyone with Operation Choo Choo t-shirts.
    Well said.....
After several sad, bad years of football let's moan about the club, and not rejoice in the fact we are getting out of this crap league.......
Give the team a cheer, those of you going to the game, COYR.

Are you suggesting people didn't know we run coaches to away games or how to find out about it? Anyone who wanted to go by coach could do so until Wednesday afternoon. Whatever the demand until that point we would have met it - fact is most people, me included, don't want to go by coach, and a few others left it until late Wednesday or Thursday to make their minds up. In this case, unfortunately, they are too late.

Whilst I don't agree with the negativity surrounding the whole trip, I firmly believe that another coach should have been put on. I was planning to bring two people along with myself to Carlisle and would have bought coach tickets today. It's better to have taken the risk of a single coach for a match like this, than any other match previously played. The situation in regards to the extra coach could not have been compared to any other away game in recent Charlton history.

I live in Cornwall and have spent over £1000 getting to games this season. Perhaps the club would like to lay on a special train for me, or a free coach? I'd settle for a suite at the Devonport House Hotel in Greenwich.

If people want to coach it now, there's a certain thing called National Express or Megabus

AB i think the point that i am making is that could the club have promoted a coach service to the game with more pick points a bit better for a crucial game??

So you're saying the club somehow decide more pick up points where less people or even no one might want it from? If people wanted a cheap way to get there they would of looked at the coach option already, if they were too picky then its their own fault and nothing can be done about it now. MTFU

No what i am saying is that you could promote it online, with the option of pick points, logistically there are certain routes that you would/could have to pass other pick ups. It really isn't rocket science, and would be a very simple way of getting fans to go a game, its not that hard and as i said earlier if promoted in the right way, and i am not talking free travel, my opinion is that you may have got a bigger following. I must be getting old but what is MTFU???

We looked at putting on the Sussex and Canterbury coaches, but there need to be a minimum of four/five in total to make that work with the current pick-ups. That's why we couldn't commit to do them too far in advance.

We decided against doing it based on the take-up on Tuesday.

Chicken and egg, perhaps, but the numbers from these areas have been so tiny when we have done it so far in 2012 I don't think it would have made much difference.
