Shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth but.......

Won two tickets to the game yesterday by writing a Star letter in the (Royal) Greenwich Times published by Greenwich Council.

This was the view from the seats.

Not a good way to recognise the support given by the local council (or mine - they had my Red Card number)

To be fair Crust, we did title the competition " Win a view of a crash barrier for 90 minutes" competition. The Editor

Should make it clear it was the club that issued the tickets and get free mentions on page 2 every issue

There was plenty of room in the stand to move seats.

The view reminds me of the away corner at the old den.

I always wondered where the restricted veiw seats were.

There appeard to be a few empty seats in that stand. Why did you simply not move

    Exactly?
And I would think the ticket office would have thought you'd do that, as it was nowhere near a sell out.

we did move but the tickets were issued before Easter so there was need to have chosen these seats as the prize. Might not have been possible to find alternative seats in this area of the west stand.

So its a complaint for a potential issue :)

So this was the view from a seat you didn't actually have to sit at. Bloody club giving out free less than ideal tickets

you're missing my point - they have a deal with the council to give seats away in return for publicity. Many of the winners are not supporters but they might be.

This is not the way to gain new customers.

You should be standing, you'd have a perfect view.

What gets me is the club sell these seats for 60% of the price of a seat with a full, clear view. Shouldn't be allowed IMO, I had the displeasure of sitting in one of these back in the Prem days, when we used to sell out regularly, and I'd never do it again. The fact that these are given away as comps is pathetic.

What should they do then ? as giving them away is not good enough, maybe just rip the seats out ?
TBH the name 'restricted view' should have been a clue when purchasing.. it is a risk you take

What you said to begin with would be a start but other than that if they want to sell them, certainly for at most 50% of the price of a normal seat would be fair given that you've got almost 50% less of the same view!

However I don't think they should be set aside to be given away in comps as it creates a bad impression of the club.

Another thread where people get the wrong end of the stick and then tug it for all it's worth.

There are a number of tickets that are not on the system as restricted views, even though they are.

We've been managing this for busy games (Stevenage, Hartlepool to a large extent) by printing the tickets off so they can't be sold, until and unless needed.

But we have not been able to update the stadium map mid-season, so we have relied on people to move when the stand (usually upper west) is only 30-40 per cent full.

It's not satisfactory by any means but that's the situation I inherited and I don't know how it came about originally.

As far as selling restricted views, we do so at £2 off the adult or senior price.

This problem will be resolved for next season.

I am more than happy with my seats, I sit in the row opposite that picture, East Stand, Block E, Row Z and get a restricted view discount on my season ticket as I have to move my head up or down 6 or so inches to see a corner taken in the north east corner. A good point for those tickets in the picture is that you can rest your thermos flask on the barrier as I find mine gets cold fairly quick sitting on the floor.

Write a letter to their rival newspaper with that picture enclosed.

    That is hilarious!
