I asked an Ipswich fan what he thought of him and he laughed saying pleased to be rid....enough said.

No way. As Lord Cardigan commented, older players like Euell can do a job and he brought in experience and professionalism whereas Bowyer would bring experience. Neatly put.

No thanks, he's part of our past - not our future.

And who would he replace? None of our present midfield - so what would be the point? Powell has shown that unless a player can produce, then they are out of the door. Why bring in someone who can offer nothing more than what we already have in our squad?

    No.

I am not looking forward to a summer of posts on here asking if any available player who's played for us over the last 20 years could do a job for us now!

I'm a big fan - very talented and could turn a game. I recall that we sold him to Leeds for good money, and this allowed us to build the west stand ? Sadly it was a long time ago and my recall is poor. It's still a no from me.

    What about signing Danny Murphy?
  • Jimmy Floyd could still do a job up top.

This wouldn't fit in with our recruitment strategy. Doesn't exactly fit the young and hungry mold does he. It's a no...

was it wimbledon in the league cup where he was awsome?
5-3 away game got a hat trick i think , was gutted when he went , too past it now to come back , probably wants a big wedge.
He got a hattrick (not sure all three crossed the line!) in the away game, and ruled the midfield in the second leg. His pass to Johnny Robinson for the winner was quality.

No thanks, he's had his day. By the way, did he leave Ipswich on a high??
  • The only time he come close to coming back to us was at beginning of 2005/06 season and during the middle but we couldn't agree a fee with Newcastle.

I would've had him then, not now.

Would love to have seen him back but fear he's not what we are looking for now...shame as he has been a great player over the years....seems to have been around for ever.
Another one we let get away....sigh!!
Are you sure ? I wouldn't call a £2.8mill transfer as one we let get away, we just couldn't hold onto him as he was destined for bigger things + we needed the dosh

Would love to see him back just to say thanks really and use his passion, loved watching him. I remember the cup night at Selhurst against the Dons, he was only 17 and took no shit from a certain Mr Vinnie Jones.

We need players with that passion and spirit for next season, i think we already have a few. Maybe adding in a passionate senior player will maintain that edge and spirit we have now for our championship season.

I think I'd tear up my season ticket if we signed Bowyer. He's a racist thug as far as I'm concerned.

Two leg league cup games were great. Johnny Robinson's curled winner in front of the covered end. Marbellous. But no...
  • For me - Yes. I think he is still a decent player.

No ..but a good post in that has provoked some debate

i think jason euell did his prodigal son job well (probably incidentally) i dont think Bowyer would ....id see at somehwere like Gillingham or Barnet provide he accepts low money

good when he first played for us though
  • Lee Bowyer was one of the first players I really identified with, being about the same age as me.

Don't think he should come back though. Let's leave his time here as a (mostly) happy memory.

Btw it's depressing when your generation of players retire :(
