Would hope we could do better, not overly impressed with him, and has 2 red cards to his name. A good loan, but not a permanent signing for me.

If SCP wants to retain Russell for a role in The Championship then why did Preston let him out on loan in the first place?

Because they're a basketcase of a football club at the moment

Because he fell out with the previous Preston manager Phil Brown.

Cos they're skint and couldn't afford to maintain a championship sized wage bill....................

Russell was ok but I wouldn't sign him for the championship .

He'll do a decent job in the Championship as a squad man and potential starter if Powell fails to attract any alternative, more desireable midfielders .... provided he can improve his volatile temperament. Perhaps a 'regular job' with a guaranteed contract will calm and relax him

Perhaps he should be old enough to know better & it's a bit late to improve his volatile temperament.
A decent squad player in div 1, would of hoped we'd be looking at better players than him for the championship ;-(

Not after Huddersfield away, the mistake for the goal happens to the best from time to time, but his behaviour which led to his red was childish and not what is expected from an experience pro. Let his team mates down badly. 2 red cards in sich a small number of games was too Sam Sodje esque.

Yes if we were in L1, in the Championship I'm sure we can do better. Norwich let go Russell and Doc once they got to the Championship, and Lambert knows what he's doing

    In Powell we trust

Unless of course its a playern we don't fancy
  • Bit of a Bryan Hughes type midfielder for me. Competent enough but nothing special. Perhaps he has more to offer that we've yet to see but CP has. I prefer the tenacity of Pritchard and the defensive qualities of Andy Hughes, both offer something a bit different.

Russell left on his own accord i think.
