a lot of refs have absolute shit for brains. Premier league fans complain about some of the refs at that level but they're out of this world compared to some shit we've had to put up with

I gave up refereeing when I was informed that to progress any higher, they insisted I had my common sense removed completely.

Can't find a clip anywhere but the Steve Brown sending off against Leicester in 2001 comes to mind, the ref flourishing the red card as Brownie was stretchered off the pitch with a leg injury. He had handled the ball but only when he went down seriously hurt. The ref's decision led to the infamous catalogue throwing incident.

He was faking it Bill, trying to influence the ref not to send him off. He was fit for the next game as I recall.

Ha ha - you're right. Now I think about it I think he broke both legs and an arm in that game. Plus a badly split finger nail.

Steve Brown at home against Southampton. Can't remember what happened- something to do with the saints player and Steve's ankle (!?), but it was totally innoucous, in front of the North Stand, night game.. Just remember being utterly disgusted. The kind of decision that can put a reasonable person off of paying good money to go to games.
Did Steve Brown ever get justly sent off?

Definitely faking it. He said so some time afterwards.

For me (somewhat changing the subject I know) it wasn't in football but was the sending off of the Welsh rugby captain during the recent World Championship semi-final last year.....absolutely unjustified and outrageous decision, it completely ruined the game, particularly as it was so early on.

94 world cup, mexican player (I believe) wins the ball after the winger over-ran it, so there was no contact at all, the mexican never got within a yard of the opponent, ref sent him off, still not sure what for.

To hell with the caveat - Scott Wagstaff at Oldham this season, reducing us to 9 men. Totally ridiculous second booking as his momentum from a slip carried him into another player.

Didn't Rivaldo get a Turkey defender sent off in the World Cup when there was no contact at all

This was the right decision, never a sending off, not even sure it was a yellow!

The worst sending off I ever witnessed was at Southend when this man image was sent off in a case of mistaken identity with this man image
