The whole point is that everyone seems to be more focused on the prestige of the sponsor. If a "major" brand name like O2 offer 500k and some company we've never heard of offers more then the latter deal is the one the club would pick (and rightly so).

Same as everyone wetting themselves over a drab polo shirt just because it's got a tick on it.............................
Those who don't like the idea of the Nike logo on our club shirt can try this.image

    Apparently it's a tick remover.

At the shirt sponsors do, I got told by the gentleman responsible for signing the deal that it's a different sponsor on the home shirt to the away shirt, bit like Arsenal's Sega and Dreamcast sponsorship.

However, I was a little drunk and might have got the wrong end of the stick.

Well, the Arsenal deal was still SEGA, as dreamcast was their gaming machine. Just a way of them advertising both the company and their product at the same time.

The story I heard was that they had the Sega shirts first and that everything was fine until they had to play an Italian team in the Champions league. At that point, someone informed them that Sega was Italian slang for w@nk. They hastily spoke to the Sega people who (suspecting that this might happen) offered that they change the wording to Dreamcast and the rest is history. That was told to me by a completely impartial Spurs supporter, so in must be true.

Reprinted from the link above........ doesn't anyone proof read nowadays before publishing!!! I've highlighted the silly bit which accompanied a picture of the shirt being shown in the Valley reception-:

This is the new Charlton shirt 2012/2013, Charlton Athletic’s new home kit for the 12/13 season. This new Charlton 2012/13 kit has been made by Nike, who recently agreed a four year deal with the Addicks to replace Macron as the club’s kit designers. The Nike CAFC kit deal will be executed by Just Sport on behalf of the US kit giant, who will also run the Valley Superstore.

Charlton Athletic’s new 2012/2013 kit sees a plain white top with a collar paired with white shorts. The sponsors of the kit haven’t been announced yet. The Nike swoosh on the shirt is white in colour, as can be seen from the pic below.

Charlton will be competing in the Championship during the 2012/13 season after winning promotion from Npower League One in the 11/12 season.
